Does anyone know if these two parts are interchangeable? I know that you can use the Z32 Manual Flywheel on a VH, and that the VH starter is 1/4" off of the ring gear when using this combo. Is it 1/4 off along the axis of the crank? (easy fix) or 1/4" off in the diameter of the flywheel (hard fix).

So, does anyone have the stock flexplate that they can compare to a Z32 flexplate or flywheel and let me know if they're the same diameter/number of teeth??? It would be a HUGE help.

No they are different. But yes the z32 (twin turbo only) flexplates are the same dia, same tooth count etc, will bolt on the VH crank. But due to the z32 starter on the box, the ringgear tooth lead-in is back to front, ie the stater will (most prob) make an'orrible noise if it was to line-up . Also 99.9% sure the vh riggear is around the 1/4" closer to the engine, whereas the z32 is the other way closer to the rear.I have pics but too lazy sorry. (The NA auto z32 ones are smaller again). What is the same count etc ringgear that i have noticed is TT z32 auto, NA z32 manual and VH. So yeah if u need to make a flywheel, skim off a z32 tt or VH ringgear.

So if I understand you correctly... a Z32 TT Auto Flexplate is the same diameter as a VH45 flexplate, but the ring gear is offset a different distance from the engine block. And the teeth are cut for the starter to interface from the other side (lead in). The Z32 is closer to the rear of the car, the VH is closer to the engine since the Z32 starter is on the bellhousing, and the VH starter is on the block.

http://www.specialtyz.com/transmission.htm - SFI appreoved flexplate for the Z32 TT. If the ring gear was swiched (flipped) to the other side of the plate, (moved closer to the motor and reversed so the lead in was opposite) it should work on a VH, right?

Just curious....

Yes thats right, but they have pressed it (or machined) to suit the offset. It may pay to email them as if they left one of the offsets U may be about right. If u move the ringgear back 1/4" (or whatever it is exactly) the ringgear may only be contacting the outer flexplate half way. though ugly the welds would more thanm likely hold it.I would email them first instead of butchering something new. They may be able to help.

Or you could save all this nonsense hassle, use the fix that I developed almost 12 months ago, and purchase a high performance, 7079 grade alloy flywheel from me.

Sorry, my mind just couldn't comprehend that someone would actually want to retain an automatic transmission

you have to admit for drag racing auto's usually make more consistent passes...

The Q45 (stock!) would make a great bracket racer... Would run 15.1 all day!

That's exactly why I want the auto. I'm building a bracket racer.

True that, over here we actually have corners which require the use of downshifting
