Hi, Thinking of putting a VH41 in a boat, does anyone know where I can get a intake manifold for a carb setup??, and how to set up a dizzy ( like a Mallory) just to make it a simple setup

or point me in the correct direction

Thanks in advance

It would be easier to keep the fuel injection. I could 99.7% guarantee there is not a carb manifold for a vh41, unless it was a one off you found.

There is no easy way to run a normal distributor on one either.

If you are wanting to keep it simple, run it injected.

IF you decide to build a carb manifold keep us posted. I am not that familiar with boat motors, is there any reason it is better to run carbs on a boat?

i agree, you would spend WAY less time keeping it fuel injected. The stock ECU can pretty much be like a "standalone", in that it only needs power to operate the engine, and you can bypass most of the emissions stuff without any issue.

just out of curiousity, what kind of drive setup were you gonna go with...? An I/O sterndrive or an inboard?

Pretty much just go through the wiring diagram. It's actually reasonably simple...

There is a copy in the Factory Service Manual available on this site somewhere.

There are a few different types of carb manifolds available for the VH41DE in New Zealand.

Keep your eyes open on http://www.trademe.co.nz or contact Brian Hartley at the Head Shop in Palmerston North, he sells his own carb manifold design for the VH.

I have seen 2 different intake manifolds, one using quad webbers and the other set up for a 4 barrel holley, on NZ motors . the dizzy is run off the r/h exhaust cam shaft and sits in the front of the engine . Any engineering shop should be able to sort it . Or you could use an electronic unit with crank or cam sensors.. lots of options really... but they all cost . Personally I would stick with the stock system.. shame the stock manifold looks dumb
