anyone know a company that makes or sells new vq35 engines or if there is such a thing as a performance version ( like how the rb26 has the n1 version)? the plan is to buy one and build it up slowly, by then the warranty will be done and i could swap

New = Nissan only. The only factory "performance" VQ35 would be the VQ35HR from the current G35 sedans. Otherwise, you could get a regular VQ35 and throw Nismo parts on it.

basically i want to build an engine that can handle either boost or nos. some people have told me the stock block is fine for that and all i should do is change the internals, i just figured why not do the whole thing

Darton makes sleeved blocks or just sleeves that you can insert into your prepped block, I can't seem to find it now but I swear there is a 4.2 stroker somewhere, this place has the 3.5-3.7 block, http://www.turbo-kits.com/350Z_turbo_kits.html (not the new 3.7 just an overbored block)I believe the stock internals are good to about 400whp, at which point the rods become the weak link, sleeves, forged rods and pistons can get you to 600whp before the block becomes a real issue, then you swap in the darton block and and get into real crazy stupid fun kinda power they claim 1000hp capable!

I learn something new everyday. That's what happens when you have a FWD VQ35, you don't follow the aftermarket as much as if I had a Z/G

I didn't know there were any other brands, for all I know they might well be made in the same plant with different names, both are reputable names in the market, lots of cash either way but it you want the big power it comes with a big price tag

Cosworth, AEBS, GTM, and a few others do serious aftermarket work on blocks and heads. Expect to pay $4000+ base plus the additional parts you need, so unless you're looking at a LOT of power... don't bother.
