Okay so I bought my nissan a little over a year ago and finally got around to joining the club. But I have a 2002 frontier super charged. And so far I've done the headers a short ram and a set of factory z31 cams. Definatly helped with it being a 5speed. I've done a head gasket and sealed up everything the right way (previous owner liked jiffylube) but that and I've replaced just about every sensor maf dizzy bypass solenoid bypass actuator fpr crank sensor. I have all the guages I would ever need. But under boost the truck will run lean until 3200 rpms. And will fall flat on it's face between 2800-3200 rpm like it's just pulling timing. And that will sometimes set the truck into failsafe. Now when I say it runs lean it is under 15:1 but under boost I don't like that. I'm considering putting a plastic washer on the knock sensor to dumb it down because I never hear any spark knock. And Everytime I want some aftermarket tuning support to correct this NO ONE SUPPORTS IT nistune doesn't jet doesn't. Why couldn't I use an ecu for a vg30 then get the maps I want for it and burn a chip for it. Or would maybe a standalone like a safc help

And even if I'm not boosting I can still feel the lack of power in that rpm band

Only reason I posted in car forum is I thought I might get more Input from fellow tuners. Truck support is weak lol

Dont know of any aftermarket ecu or reflashes.

If the engine performs well after going closed loop, then i'd rule out the knock sensor causing any issues.

I also run lean below 2.6k and can only think of 2 alternatives. One is to install an adjustable fpr like the nismo one and raise the normal pressure up a bit...thereby raising the fuel pressure higher when under boost as well. sure this will hurt economy but that doesnt matter all that much to me. the o2 response is slow compared to the raised fuel pressure so the af should stay below stoich, even with the ecu trying to adjust it while closed loop.
Another way is to get a spare bypass solenoid and make a circuit with it that will prevent the truck from boosting unless the ecm is in open loop.
I havent fully tried these out yet (other than manually blocking the boost while closed loop to try put the method) so i dont know if they are the best solutions. Either way, I dont know if they would pass visual for smog inspections.

If you've found a better solution, please let us know.
