Well the story is, someone hit my car (my beautiful Dark Green Eagle Talon) and I need a new one. I am interested in getting a 240SX and swapping the VG30ET motor.
First of all, yes I know that it is SOHC. I've read that you can import DOHC from a VG30DET from Japan. Although I might not do this, I'm just putting this on the table.
Now, I've been reading in the 300ZX (Z31) forum, on how to take out the NA VG30E and swap in a VG30ET. It said that the driver-side motor-mount needs to be changed, so the turbo will fit.
Are the motor mounts the same? I'm following this logic, the 200SX had the CA18ET, and it also had a VG30E option, and I'm assuming that they have the same motor mounts.
Now, if a SR20DET and CA18ET and KA24DE has the same motor mounts, than shouldn't the VG30E bolt into the engine mounts in the 240SX?
Couple of other things:1.) Driveshaft needs to be cut shorter, as I doubt they would match up.2.) Be prepared to do some wiring.3.) You would need to upgrade the cooling system (a good time to take out the engine fan, and get an electric fan).
Thanks..
