VG30E swap?

hey. i had a friend said he would give me his VG30E and transmission out of his 300zx. would this fit into my 89 240, auto trans w/out too much trouble? tell me what you think. and would it be a decent swap?

I was told that it would be kind of expensive to do a swap with one of those. Its the engine from the 84-89 300zx right? Unless it is a turbo, then I dont think that the HP increase would be worth the money to do the swap.

If its from the 90-96 300zx then I would go for it. I know that those engines have 222 HP. I was thinking of doing one of these swaps but I was told that it was pretty expensive to do the swap.

Depends on what you wanna do with your car really. The VG is a pretty heavy SOB comparitive to even the KA, and the NA puts out only like 160hp stock, so I don't think it'd be worth it, but we'll need more info about your plans if you want a ton of info.

sorry, i posted that a lil fast and didnt give alot of details.

the VG30E is coming out of a 86 300zx.

i WANT to beat mustang gt's and camaro z28's. thats all there is around my lil rural town and they rag on my import and i hate it. THE ENGINE IS FREE

and when you say expensive....how so? alot of exttra parts needed or what?

Yeah, only 160HP NA, 200HP turbo, you can get racing cylinder heads and a bunch of other crap, but for your effort, if it's an NA even if it is free, you'd probably be better off rebuilding your KA for turbo or using another option

right now, the ka24e is seized. i think im gonna try and get that running, keep the auto trans. then when i have the $$ do my sr swap.
