I am swapping a vg30e out of a 88 300zx, into a 2nd gen rx7. Looking to run a megasquirt. Looking for your guys input on this. Any information is very helpful. Also looking to find sensor info on this motor.

Welcome to NICO!

I voted to keep the stock ecu as there is not much to be gained by swapping to megasquirt. This coming from someone who has megasquirted 2 engine one of which was the vg30et. I do know a guy that swapped a vg30et into a first gen RX7, the stock turbo placement makes swapping more difficult on the turbo version. The sensor info, well, if you do megasquirt, you'll need a sweeping tps form a 240sx, a gm iat sensor, the coolant sensor works but I'd have to dig for the info, it's values are the same as the l28 and was posted on the megasquirt forum years ago, I assume it's still there.

Thanks for your input! The only reason why I'd like to go with a megasquirt is cause I'd like to turbo this in the near future. Spend money up front rather then later.

If you do add a turbo, you can either swap to the turbo ecu and injectors or add a romulator like nistune.

Sounds good, I'll probably end up going that route. Now to just find a ecu and harness. Does the ecu have to be the exact year for this motor or no? The vg30e was in a lot of different cars.

Doesn't need to be specific, just has to be for an n/a vg30 with the same injector's and )2 sensor, the z31 did change mid production, I believe the break is 84-86 and 87-89, so if your engine is an 85 you'll want the 84-86 or you'll want the injectors and O2 form the later car. the later ECU is needed fore romulator IIRC.
