Recently i've been looking around for 300zx tt's. The only thing im concerned about being able to afford is the insurance. I was wondering how difficult it is to swap avg30dett into a NA body. I found a 300zx non-turbo for around 2,500 it needs to be painted and needs a motor. I was thinking about swapping in an already built up vg30dett that i found on the stillen website http://www.stillen.com/sportsc...age=1 . The motors kinda pricey but if i get the car for 2.5g's then the motors 6.5g's and about 2g's for the paint i could have a well built 300zx tt for around 11 grand. Another good aspect of the new motor is the mileage it gives the car a brand new start. I started off lookin a tt's for around 7-9g's with over 100,000 miles if i could build one with 0 miles for 11 grand it would be so much more cost efficient.

You are forgetting that in addition to the motor, you will need turbos, intercoolers, injectors, ECU, and all the necessary piping. That stuff will be another $3k at *least*, probably more like $5k. And if you aren't performing the labor yourself, better add another $2k on top of all that. A better option would be to find a TT with a weak motor and have it rebuilt, instead of trying to perform the swap.

thanks for your help the stillen website doesnt come with much info on what the motor comes with. I just figured it was more than just a long block. thanks

no, the stillen motor is just a longblock. Personally, I would rather get a motor from SGP in Houston, as Stillen sells ATK rebuilt motors, which have proven to be a huge headache for more than one customer.

They do sell front clips......:rolleyes. Go to http://www.300zxclub.com or http://www.twinturbo.net. Most say it is cheaper to buy a TT, but I dont know. I wqas going to get a N/A and get it rebuilt then do all teh bolt ons and slap a 100shot on it. LOL but the N/A was gone when I went to get it
