If you do any swap, specially messing around with a turbo motor. Your going to need atleast a 10 grand. Dont put 10 grand into a vg30dett. Dont get me wrong its not a bad motor. But if your wanting to do something rare, and want still kick ***. swap your ka with an RB motor, theirs plently to find and you need to do your own research on the pricing.

I know of the guy you're talking about. He's in Indy, and posts on freshalloy alot.

I think he's also selling that car.

Florida240sx. He actually seems pretty decent. I would be willing to bet that he would let you know all about it if you were to ask.

My project ha sbeen put on hold due to our sponsor getting hit form the hurricane. And now I'm in the middle of a move, and starting to pack things up. Once I'm setteled again I'll be able to do it. However I do have quite a bit of info I could share. Don't see why there is so much hate for the VG....Why go RB? I like to be different besides the extra .4 dispalcement When do my project I'm going to try my best to keep it twin turbo, but simplicity and less piping nightmare, I may just go for a t-67.

sorry to dig up an old post but.. Florida240sx how much did u spend on your front clip? and how much have u been into your swap already? im getting 2grand in March and i can get a engine swap ( engine and all the vital necessities for 2250 shipped) but i was just wondering what issues you have came up again, i will be doing the swap with myself and my dad and both of us are well versed with working on said projects.

It deffinately won't cost anywhere near 10 grand for any motor swap if you're planning on doing it yourself, especially a VG30 swap, that's like the cheapest Nissan motor you can buy. A VG30 is a whole lot better motor when it comes to performance then the RB series motors. More displacement, high compression, etc. You can pull like 450h.p. out of a VG motor without even replacing internals.

2 grand for the motor and transmission. Shipping is between $200-$375 depending on the motor. I'm pretty sure you can swap it into a 240sx, I know for sure that the VG30DE can be swapped into the 240sx, but I don't know for for a fact that you can swap the VG30DETT.

A VG30DETT would be a pretty costly swap, then there's the problem that they're a pain in the arse to work on.

Has anyone ever tried an L28ET swap? It should be DAMNED close to drop-in, given the similarities to the KA, and you can seriously get a good running L28ET for like $500.

I saw a built one making 400hp going for $2500. Besides, they sound redonkulous and parts are cheap and plentiful.

Has anyone ever tried this? I know the RB is a better engine and blah blah blah, but the L28 would just be so cost-effective....

Hey, HashiriyaS14. What part of the DC metro area do you live in. I live in Loudoun. I haven't seen many North VA/Dc Metro area Nico members.

I'm in Arlington, but I work in Tysons.

For some local action, try http://www.midatlantic240sx.com

Lots of DC area people, although we've got a lot on here too, including:-2BNS13-IWannaS15-MaximusNISMO

Anyway....wow, you certainly have a lot of cars man. That's a pretty sweet little collection you've got going there.

I had heard about this idea a while back and forgot it in 5 minutes after hearing how much work is involved in doing a vg30dett... but I have a lot of friend that work at z1 and after talking to them last night i found out that the vg30de will almost bolt right up. I think im going to do that and if i really need to go turbo later then i will. I have a friend that has an n/a z with 300hp before his 100 shot. Its the fastest na z in the country. Im going to z1 tommarow to talk to the guys and ill let you know what all i find out.

im actually contemplating this swap and am going to start the swap in march.. i can get all the parts fabricated in the family so.. no worries there.. only worries are fitment issues ( master cylinder, steering rack clearance under the oil pan, wiring will be a major *****, transmission tunnel, crossmember and fitment of the TT setup.. i have talked to 300sx and he says the swap is time consuming and you have to have alot of patience.. i know how to get by most of the issues..

you also have to get a custom driveshaft made. 395 plus shipping from driveshaft shop in TX..
