Hey guys,

This guy I know who has a V6 2.5L Probe GT, who is also an idiot, always has to find a way to show me up.... cause he's a **** like that.

Since he can't beat me he's trying to "sick his friend" on me. This guy, who is also a knob, has no clue about Nissans. However, after driving mommy's V6 Camaro around his parents decide to buy him a 300ZX.

He's popped the hood infront of me and he only has the base engine, no turbos at all.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this matchup before.... 1990 300ZX VG30DE vs 1992 Nissan 240sx SR20DET.

This is theoretical right now as I don't have my SR in yet. However when I install the motor I want to also put in an FMIC so I can up the boost to perhaps 8 psi (not sure if you can go past that with stock fuel management).

Please don't flame this post... I've searched around and decided to repost this question to get a better understanding.

Hmm. From what I remember, the VG30DE in the Z32 is rated for only 200-230hp? Plus it's a 3,000lb car, a stock SR with simple mods could waste it. Especially since the driver you describe seems like a greenhorn. When you waste him, do it at the strip :)

yeah... i'm not sure if i can handle the pressures of a strip.... but i'm also not a fan of street racing... actually had a friend get killed but some street racers.

I'd like to find areas to practice drifting

Your SR would smoke him. Those NA 300zx's are kinda slow..specially with auto.

It's as bout as sporty as the Camaro...

they're sure as hell out handle a Camaro though.

shouldn't be a problem though.

Well Camaro's aren't sports cars, they're muscle cars..

id be willing to bet that the pgt is faster than the zx. i had a '95 mx6 LS 5 spd (same basic car as pgt's) and i beat a 93 zx auto n/a t tops by like around 3 cars. i did however have the klze engine and transmission (JDM) which is slightly more powerful than usdm (164 hp US, 215 hp JDM) but when i had the original motor in, it was still faster. so since your motor is prolly even faster than the ze, you should kill him. stock pgts with good drivers and a manual transmission can be mid 15 second cars, i know this for a fact.

see... i've watched people post that the SR can beat a 350 5.7L camaro/mustang.

This is possible... but how many mods would be needed??... I'm sure the SR + FMIC, downpipe, and catback would produce a solid 240hp, but is this at the rear wheels? and would the 2750lbs 240sx (car+driver) beat a 350 5.7L camaro/mustang.

anyone know the weight specs?

Slow... especially with auto? I thought back then the Z32s were made to be the same, if not faster with auto?

that's a Mustang dork, I believe the Camaro was a 3.4 liter. The 89 and back was a 2.8...

it might've jumped to a 3.8 at some point in the late 90's, but I don't think it did...

and the Camaro isn't a muscle car persay, it's always been a pony car. Muscle is straight line only, believe it or not, the camaro was actually intended to turn too! A Z 28, while not being one of the best handling cars, is capable(it's solid axle is gonna forever hinder it though not too mention weight balance too). Granted, GM's used the same suspension for most of the car's life, the old Z 28's were very dominant cars in Trans Am and the like.

but yeah, an NA Z32 is no real feat, unless it's running a 14:1 compression or something...

it being an auto doesn't help it any.

I speak from experience, they bite.

But do be warned, the Z32 really opens up with just a couple of mods. Remember, the Z was nissans race car, corvette and mustang rival. However, On my Sr I have a front mount, koyo, electric fans and 2.5 straitpipe to the muffler. at 10lbs I've smoked both a 93' 300zx 2+2 and a 90 300zx non turbo. I have been beaten by a 90' 300zx non turbo, but he had some money under the hood. have fun smoke his ***.
