VG30DE JSpec Engine Knock

1991 NA VG Just found out today that the engine has a slight knocking noise from just off throttle to about 5k But not noticeable at idle, other than that the engine runs great, new ptu, correct ngk plugs, good injectors w/ new harness plugs
to throw another wrench in the spokes the oil pressure sending unit has always read low sometimes almost 0 but never around 60 that my old 232k engine had. (i thought it was just a lazy sending unit until I just noticed this noise) Any chance the oil pumps in these cars should fail that soon? estimating 80k on imported engine. Its loud enough that I can hear it in the cab while driving with my performance exhaust but an untrained ear might not hear it.

update, sounds like spark knock or piston noise, i will pull codes and power distribution test asap

update the engine is locked up, due to low oil pressure

Check your oil pan, MANY jspec motors are shipped sitting on their oil pans, this crushes them again the pick up tube and limits or even stops oil flow. I can't tell you the number Z cars that have come to us with this issue.

take a look, it should have a slightly round bottom to it, not flat.

Ya i'm gonna do it right this time, DONT BE IN A HURRY GUYS, take your time and do it right, r&r oil pan, water pump and oil pump, or you could end up like me, buying and installing another engine
