VG30DE from J30 into 300zx

Anyone here do a vg30de from a J30 into a 300zx??? I used a motor from a 96 J30 to replace the motor in myGF 91 Z32 2+2. A few differences in the Engine Harness, Oil Pan/Oil Pickup. Could not find a FSM for the J30 ... but made it work. Anyone else use a J30 motor for their Z32??? Any problems???

I seem to recall this coming up before, I think the long block is the same, the pan, pickup, dipstick intake exuhaust and all accessories have to be retaioned but I am pretty positive the long block is a direct replacement

I have confirmed most those those issues and did not find much on this forum about the swap.

All I can tell you is it will work. The VG30DE engine in my 90 Z is out of a 97 J30. I bought the car as is from my uncle. He had the swap done in San Diego, CA near where we live.

Very common with most shops to swap them out as a good interchange minus the peripherals. Long blocks are the same but the auto and 5 speeds have different cams.

I think that this motor was already swappwd because the wiring harness was already cut into like several times on the engine harness and at the ECU ...
