Bought a Motor that had a broken camshaft.it was broken at the cam gear clean off. Tried using another cam from another motor when I tried to tighten it down to spec it wouldn't turn by hand. There Is zero play. Can someone tell me the cheapest route to fix this problem. Is it just buy another head with cams or take it to a machine shop. Any and all input is appreciated. I'm a first timer to any Nissan builds.

You can't just slap a new cam in without checking clearances. Take your head to a machine shop.

Cam bores are done individually for each cam. As Ace aid, its not as easy as just swapping in a new cam.

Can you explain why you cant? Im also pretty new to doing internal work. I figured if you got a cam from a different engine of the same model the cams would be the same?

Because every head is line bored slightly differently, in reality it depends on the tolerances of your engine, some cars/engines/manufacturers you can do it, on others you cant
