I was just searching and ive seen that the vg30 turbo on an rb20 will yield some pretty good gains. Can anybody confirm this?

Will it give better gains than an rb25 turbo?

This all depends on which vg30 your talking about. The vg30et, vg30det, or vg30dett. The et is a t3 bigger than the rb25 and has steel wheels, the det is the largest turbo Nissan put on anything and the most rare, and the dett turbos are smaller than a t25.

So the turbo from the turbo z31 would be the best bet? Im probably not gonna find the one from the vg30det and the small twin would somewhat of a downgrade

That and the t25 foot on the dett turbos will not bolt to the t3 flanged rb20 manifold. The good part about a z31 turbo is that you can still get gaskets and stuff at a Nissan dealer. The bad part is that if you don't get the internal gate/o2 housing with the turbo you'll be doing a lot of fab work. The t3/to4e I run has an exhaust housing that is similar to the z31s. I recently bought a block off plate and will be welding a flange on the manifold to run an external gate which is what I or anyone else should do if they are considering running high boost.
