I realize this is my first time on the boards but, I figured I'd ask.

Has anyone seen any Rx-7's with VG30 DETT swaps in them? I'm getting ready to do this swap myself and was curious.

Sorry for the late reply. I've not seen any DETT's in an RX-7 personally so I don't know the bet route to go about doing it. That Granny's Speed Shop seems like it would be a good route but be sure that they make mounts for the DETT. The motor mount bolt pattern between the VG30E(T) and DE(TT) are slightly different.

I haven't seen any either and was thinking of doing the same thing. It will be sweet if you can do it.

Not to get off topic but how are the motor bolt patterns different from the vg30de and vg30det? is it a lot?

Should be the same between the VG30DE and DET. Granny's Speed Shop makes mounts for the VG30E(T) which is slightly different (SOHC version).

hey there is a websight out there the actually sells a kit to swap a single cam vg engine into an rx-7 ...its GrannysSpeedShop.com however u might want to figure out how to modify the kit or if the manufactuer can modify it for you and also the vg30 twin cam and also u want to do a twin turbo probably upgraded turbos none the less you might have some fitment issues but hey swaps are never easy ...but hey good luck on your endeavor let us now how far u get once again good luck

i have a few vq's laying around the shop. working on putting one in an s14...I also have a 90 rx7 gxl converted to turbo II that i bought with a blown motor and parted out a good bit of the swap. it's a clean shell. has tII wing and a clean black interior. I've been thinkin about puttin a vq30 or 35 in it....I know for a fact that o vq30 has been put in one of these before. I think broaner might know the guy that did this swap....or fred on swaptech. as fas as the vg swap...haven't seen one, but it'd be badass
