I've got an '86 hardbody with that beloved (ie. so far I hate it) t/b injected V6 motor, and mainly due to the cost of the damn injectors (which are suspect to be leaking right now) I'm curious to see if anyone has kept the motor in the truck and just swapped out the throttle body and whole intake sys for the newer, more common, more powerfull injected version.

Either this, or is there a carb swap for the t/b? If there is, I'm all for going 'old school' and dumping in a full carb setup. (As though that's not evident by my '89 Honda Accord w/ dual weber DCOE's.)

Anyway, I'm sorry if this has been covered already, but a search proved not-so-helpfull this time around.

If anyone's got any info, and is willing to share, I'm willing to listen.

You could probably take the wiring harness, ECU, intake, injectors, and the entire multi-port setup from a later VG and adapt it to your motor, since the bottom ends are the same.

It'll definitely be a job. Happy junk yard hunting!

Sorry to sound ignorant, but I'm lost on that one. Are you suggesting I swap out the entire motor? I would assume the whole harness would end up going with that as well right?

the knock sensor is pointless, and could be placed anywhere on the engine if you wanted to run one. I suggest getting the efi setup from a HB or pathy and plugging it into your truck harness. Its a pretty straight forward deal but just time consuming. What exactly are the symptoms of your truck running poorly? peace.

First, thanks for your help w/ this.

Second,

Here's a link to a thread I started, where I have only begun to describe the troubles w/ the truck running poorly.
