I'm going to be putting a JDM vg30dett in my z32 this summer and was wondering what sort of maintenance should be done before it goes in. The engine supposedly has 40-50K on it, but who knows...

I'd check compression if at all possible. Even though they are low mileage engines, that doesn't say whether it was treated right, could have never had a single oil change.

I had a JDM VG30ET and one thing about it that I happen to notice with a lot of imported engines is the coolant system seems to always be dirty, very dirty. Enough to constantly clog my heater core even after cleaning it a few times. I'd clean all of the coolant passages out as good as you can just to be on the safe side. Mine had red junk in it with the consistency of mud so keep an eye out for that.

Other than that, I'll have to let some others chime in as I've never messed with a DETT swap. Good luck with everything!
