Car: 1988 se v6 S12 Ka-t swapped

Post

Hello fellow nico club members, a few weeks ago I posted a thread about me thinking about trading my 93 240sx for a 1988 se s12. Well I traded and I have been very pleased with the trade. I thought now because I own the car and its almost done it would be a good time to start posting pictures and updates. I also noticed on the home page there's a 87 se with a vg33 swap and thought it was interesting how many more people are starting to mess around with s12's.

So none the less I also want to let everyone know the vg was pulled because the transmission crapped the bed and a friend of mine who i traded with had a ka-t he bought and was waiting to drop in to a s13. He changed his mind and wanted to swap the ka-t in to the s12.

Well when the swap went under way there was some un-foreseen problems like the vg crossmember not bolting up to the ka. So a s13 cross member was swapped in with little modification. This combined with the vg control arm actually helped with the steering angle as you will see in the following pictures and video. The car should be running and driving within a week or two.

I'm unable to watch the video, but the car looks pretty good. That interior needs some freshening but the KA looks right at home there. There was a thread a few weeks ago where a guy was doing a KA24e-T swap into the s12. I'm glad you found a KA24de-T to put in there instead of wasting your time on the single cammer. Looks like good progress.

Here's a different link maybe this one will work. But the interior is actually pretty clean but the flash from my camera made it look a little faded. But I plan on a nardi steering wheel or bride steering wheel, bride seats with harness's, and maybe some other interior pieces to spiceit up a little bit. I wanna know where everyone gets the oem replacement door panels.

KA-T ftw!

You should upgrade your turbo later, the T25 is way too small for the KA.
Also, I'd ditch the SAFC setup and purchase a rom tune.

How was hard was the wiring for the swap?

That engine bay looks very clean. Nice looking KA, too. You planning on putting stock accessories back in (PS, A/C, etc) or what? Turbo a T25 or T28? 550cc injectors? You have a nice collection of Nissans there!

For now I plan on running the safc2 because Im just running 7lbs and sr 370cc injectors. I plan on going with a s14 or s15 t28 and this summer Have some one I know tune it once I have the money to set up the extra ecu I have. The wiring was actually pretty simple, atleast on paper the physical part hasn't happened yet, but I took the diagram from a ca-ka swap and the digram from a ca-vg swap and just cross referenced them. The blue s13 in the driveway is the car I traded for the s12 haha, and what you dont see is my buddies s14. I realized bride doesnt make a steering wheel when I found the thread where the guy had all bride interior and re wrapped his nardi with bride material haha.

And I actually plan on putting p/s back in I live in Maine so a/c isnt really something I need , But I am trying to keep the car as clean and not complicated as possible . Ie not stripping interior except for the carpet on he floor in front of the rear seats and spare tire and jack and front bumper beam.

In my honest opinion I love the jeep rims with the 80's body styling I think it meshes sooo well. :naughty: :gapteeth:

BTW, there is an awesome site you can go to for new-old stock Nissan parts called http://www.oem-surplus.com, they might have some clean door panels or seats that have never been installed or something else you might like. The listed prices are NOT real, just offer the guy anything, he'll probably take your money. :)

I was just reading about the supercharged S12 on the homepage last night. Glad you're breathing some life into this car.

Haha Ya you found it, He's a friend of mine and helped me out with my s13 and I helped him with his cressida. The cressida's sick and not to brag up my car But my s12's Sick. 2 Rare swaps coming out of Maine who friggen knew Maine would have some sweet nismo powered cars. I cant wait to get some damn pictures of these two things with the hoods poped next to each other.
