Ok, this has just been weird. I didint drive my car for about 6 months in 2009. So from like july to late december it just kinda sat there, started it every few weeks. So I lost my company car, and needed to et my car into shape to drive from dallas texas to rochester ny. So the car doesnt start first few turns. I take it to the autozone next door and hae them test the battery, batter is fine just needs to be charged. Car then works fine for a dew weeks.

So a few weeks later it trys really hard to start a few turns, then nada just a clicking noise. So after some research and help here, I bought a new starter. This is after I bang on hte old one with a braker bar and it started right up. New starter worked great, including the trip from texas to ny. Then the car doesnt work when I start it at my house in NY.

So I buy a new battery when I find out the one I got in texas sucks in the winter. Car then started fine, for a few days.

Now I can start it and it works great, however i the car heats up and I try to start it again it wont start. If I goto the mall, walk around for 3-4 hours then go try to start it, it works fine. I took it to my guy that we have been using here and he cant find a thing. No error codes are going. Just a small oil leak in the oil pan that needs to be re-sealed and loosing coolant SLOWLY from the radiator. All things I can watch.

Could it be a bum starter? bad battery? I am just mystified as to what this is...

Sounds like heat soak. Heat affects electrical components. Anything from bad or corroded battery cables to a bad starter could be causing this. My truck suffers from it once in a while when hot. I know my starter is old and sucks. I would first check and make sure all the connections are tight and free of corrosion. Check the condition of the cables closely, they could be green inside the insulation. If those check out and the posts of the battery is clean then I would turn my eyes on the starter again. Start small and work your way up. Also search heat soaking for other tips I may have missed.
