I thought the limiter was only present in the automatics?

only manuals have it. its used to limit the speed, and is taken care of by the ECU.

swap to an auto ecu, or but the greddy (?) fuel cut defender.

nothing you ask is stupid. if your not sure then you did the right thing by asking.

cams make a big difference.

as for the speed cut you can do a search on that, there is a way to cut some wires (or more practically) to wire them to a switch that will defeat the speed cut. I don't remember off hand which ones but I know this has been covered a lot. The auto ecu should also work too and since they are so cheap used that might be the way to go.

if you find a write up on how to disable the speed limiter, make sure it is for your engine. The 240 started out with a KA24E and got a different engine in 1991, the KA24DE. The "cut one wire at ECU" method is only for the KA24DE. If you try this with an E engine, it will screw things up from what I hear.

not true, you can do the same thing to the ka24E, you just have to know the right wires to snip.

You really need to go 120+ mph in your 16 year old car with stock suspension? Just wondering why you "need that 2000 rpm"...

other than the mickey mouse performance items i have installed i have also installed, tie rod ends, new rack and pinion, ball joints, cross drilled and slotted roters, they sucked and warped very quickly. so i went back to stock roters, new calipers, front and rear sway bars. so the suspension is very tight and responsive.

I REALY WANT THAT EXTRA 2000 RPM

How fast are you going in fifth gear when it cuts out at 4500 rpm? Are you sure it is a rev limiter and not the governor?

ya, but since it is different wires, I was just saying if he found a write up or something, make sure it is not for a DE.

easiest way I have heard is to get an ECU from an auto of the same engine. If you can find a junked 89-90 240 that is auto you could get the ECU and swap it out for yours. Shouldn't take very much time at all really. Just unmounting the ECU, unplugging it, and adding the new one.

when i put the new motor in my friends tried to get me to put in a sr20det but the computer and wire harness cost more than the motor

i bought my motor at greenleaf.com complete motor with all sensors under 25000 miles ready to drop in and run for 500.00 w/ 6 month warranty i think they get them from japan

ya the E motor is the KA24E. They probably didn't get it from japan, there are so many junked KAs here they could pick from. The SR wiring should cost about $500, that is sending it to a shop to have it spliced with the KAs old harness.

In a while, do an updatge about the green leaf motor. I'd like to see how it works out for you.

i cant seem to find a wiring diagram for this thing but it stands to reason that its an open or cosed switch. if you unplug the od switch on the trans it will either tell the ecm you are in 5th or not. drive and see if you have the limiter. then if you still have it, put a jumper wire in the electrical connector and see if you have it.

just unplug the sensor from the transmission, no more govoner. if i remember correctly there's 3 connections on your transmission from front to back it's reverse switch, 5gear switch(disconect this one) and speed sensor. if i'm wrong i'm sure someone'll correct me soon enough

I thought if you unplugged the fifth gear switch the car dies when you put it into fifth gear....Haven't driven mine yet but am gonna take it out tonight and play with it....first time getting to drive it after buying it 4 months ago.I have my speed sensor unhooked from the trans (5 speed) and it was like that when I bought the car.
