My 1991 240sx has a very unusual overheating problem. It an automatic KA24de. It has a brand new radiator, fan clutch and water pump. It also is running without a Thermostat.

The car seems to overheat heat when I am coming back from my cousins house, but the car doesnt overheat on the way to his house. The trip takes about 30 mins, 20 mins on the freeway and about 10 mins in the city. Im guessing that it is overheating on my way home because i have to go uphill on the way back, and not to my cousins house.

It only seems to overheat on this trip only. I drive back and forth from school and home with the A/C on full blast and the car never overheats. The same goes with going on the freeway to other places nearby.

Do you think the long freeway trip and going uphill causes it to overheat? I can take a short trip down the hill and go back up and no overheating problems occur.Any suggestions?

Thanks

If your running your car without a thermostat it should not overheat.. I can't imagine it even being at operating temperature while your going down the road. So that is kind of a weird situation.. I dont know.

like posted above, make sure there is the right amount of coolant, then bleed the system to get any air out of the system that should fix it.

if not you might have to start going through your sensors's to see which one could be bad.

also it could just be a gauge problem? or can you tell it's over heating?

Your car probably just hates your cousin. So it gets pissed off at you and overheats. maybe take it on a similar drive with the same kinds of hills and distance and see if it does it. thats a stumper fo sho.

I dont really live up a mountain. but a steep hill, also the roads go on an incline towards my house. Im going to try to change my gauge this weekend because the speedometer isnt working either. It has coolant, but I think im gonna flush it this weekend and see whats up.
