Ok, so I don't know what's going on. My Eve started acting weird coming home from work a while back. It would hit about 5k RPM, and actually slow down. It finally just sort of sputtered out and died on me, and wouldn't start again. I thought it might be something as dumb as running out of gas, but even after emptying 5 gallons into the tank and letting the fuel lines re-pressurize, it wouldn't start. I left it sit for a week or so while gathering info about the problem, which at the time I figured to be a locked up IAA. Well I go out to work on it the other day and decide to try to charge up the battery a bit and see if she'll turn over, and with a tiny bit of pedal manipulation, she starts and runs under her own power. She sounds really rough, not sure how to describe it, but it seemed like the idle was rough, almost gritty, and she seemed a bit louder than before.

Well I'm not sure what was wrong or where I should start looking now. She had low braking power from an earlier vacuum leak and a bad brake booster. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas, I'm a little scared and confused as to why she started, considering I never actually fixed anything.

Thanks.

Have you checked codes? This is where you need to start.

Check codes as mentioned. Pedal manipulation before starting does nothing for fuel injected cars, that's a trick for older carbureted cars.

I'd pay particular attention to your MAF voltage, see if anyone local to you (location unknown) has DataScan or Consult software on their PC

Haven't checked cod'es, I'll probably do that Thursday. I'm an Arlington, Tx local. I don't really know anyone here who'd have DataScan or Conzult or anything of that nature, but I'll see who I can drum up.

Yeah I realize the pedal manipulation should have no effect, just an old habit.. x.x

You can check the codes yourself, I believe there is a write up telling you how to do it. Either way super easy. Don't need conzult or a scan tool, unless its a 96.
