I've been having this problem for months, but when it happened, it just happened. One day its running well and then the next it's annoyingly slow after about 5 minutes of driving or I guess you could say after it warms up. Anything below 2500rpm when I floor it, it barely accelerates and is pathetically slow, like a van or something. Same thing if I go over about 3500rpm or less. This POS is starting to piss me off. I dont have much money and if this ends of being something majorly wrong with my engine im going to consider selling it. Ive been trying all sorta of crap by myself, the kinda of stuff that doesnt cost any money.... checking the rotors, the plugs, mass air flow sensor, wires, air filter..... and all of them are fine. I think maybe its so bad its gotta be something pretty big but im out of idea's. You know its bad when you lose a race against a Civic. Having 162k miles on it could be a factor. I guess i'd be ok with having to pay money, atleast I know what the problem is.

That mileage is nothing to a KA. I wouldn't think that you should have to worry about that yet. You might want to check your fuel pump though. That might be getting worn out and causing the problems you have discribed.

Hope this helps

My 89 FB is really sluggish around 1000-3000 rpm, even when you floor it. Then after it hits about 3,500 it jumps to almost 6,000 pretty quick and the car takes off . I've been trying to figure out why its so sluggish of the line, any ideas?

might just be the car... I know that the stock intake and exhaust is really restrictive and that might cause some problems by themself.

Also you guys might want to check your wiring. I found that my MAF sensor connector was badly corroded and caused poor gas mileage and performance.

thats what i was kind of thinking, and the first thing i plan getting (like most others) is an intake. I haven't gotten a look at the air filter yet so for all i know it could be completely covered in crap. i'd check it out but the intake has so much crap connected to it and i'm to lazy...
