Ok i've had my car for like a week and a half, and i want to install a CD changer into my stock Bose system. What i am planning to do is install it through FM via a universal cd changer. (The reason for this is because my current stock cd player is broken and it is the easiest and cheapest fix). The problem im running into is starting! i have installed and re-installed many stereo systems in my old civic where getting to the wires was a snap. Im a little confused when i look at the luxorious setting of my J30, can anyone help me on where to begin when i remove my stock Bose system?

its really pretty easy to do. heres the instructions on to get the headunit out. http://carstereohelp.com/stere...o.htm just run the wires along the floor board...the door sills just snap off and then you can pul the carpet back. You need to take the back seat out (at least i did) to get to the trunk. There are two rubber grommets on the backseat that you can use to run the wires through. Shouldnt be too difficult.

For a quick and simple fix to the problem with the troublesome headunit, you could simply buy a newer unit off E-bay, then sell your broken one. The link with the instructions on how to remove your headunit tells you at the bottom that they buy gently used equipment. I have already sold my broken unit and someone else's to Bob for $75 each. Not a bad deal and it should pay for more than half the replacement. If you have a 93-94 J30, I would recommend buying a newer style headunit (less wear and longer life), then you need to buy an adapter for $20 to enable you to use the older style wiring with the newer style headunit. All in all, this shouldn't cost more than $50 more than the price you can sell the broken one for.

That's funny you say that, no more than a couple hours after i posted my first message, i switched my idea and bought a newer cd player from Ebay. It's not here yet, but at least now i can hook it up myself. Where can i get the adapter for the newer unit?

This is the link to the auction that I won recently for the adapter:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

I sent an e-mail to the auction seller asking to put one up for me to buy, you should do the same. The auction says it isn't recommended to put a hook up a newer style Bose system using the adapter, but this link tells you it can be done. And they charge $35 for the adapter:http://www.carstereohelp.com/sales.htm

Installation is as simple as connecting the two plugs that originally went to the Bose headunit into the adapter, then the adapter into the headunit. That's it.
