1995 240sx 5spd

New optima red top battery, new brass battery terminals, new battery hold down, new alternator, Close to new ngk plugs and wires.

SOMETIMES when I go to start my car it'll fire right up. Other times (very random) I will turn the key all the way and it wont be anything, not even a click from the starter/relay etc. I turn my key and it just acts like theres a bad connection and the lights go off quick and then turn back on like I was to stall or something.

When it wont start, the only way I can start it is to pop start it then it'll start right up

The odd thing is that sometimes it wont start and then i'll pop start it, drive for a while then park it over night. Then the next morning it'll start up like nothing ever happened. I have new ground wires (ground kit)

Any help?

thanks

Do you have an alarm? It sounds like the ignition is being locked by the immobilizer. I'm probably wrong but I had a similiar problem to the one I'm describing.

I dont believe so. If I do it's never functioned. But I have had this problem since I got it. (6 months or so ago)

Had it with my car, the start signal wire to the solenoid was corroded.

Common Starter problem is what it sounds like. When it doesn't start like that again, get a broom stick (or something like it) and tap the Starter while someone tries to turn the key in the ignition. If it starts after tapping then it is your starter. If it does not, either they are not tapping hard enough, your starter has gone completely dead, or it is something more complex, i.e. short, wiring, etc.

It might be the clutch neutral safety switch. Maybe sometimes the pedal doesnt have contact with the switch thats why it wont start. I garunttee you thats the problem lol well...... most likely

you mean, the MOTOR?

good suggestion. make sure your motor is in one piece mark. otherwise, the starter may not work

btw, its the starter itself

his car was not factory 5spd

it WAS auto. til the genius before him decided to attempt the simple swap... and fail... clutch pedal assembly was supported via a wood block w/ duct tape

The engine black is the ground for the starter. The starter has a solenoid on it. Power on one side, load (starter winding) on the other. And a signal terminal that activated the solenoid that also references the block as ground.

Most cars engine blocks are grounded tot he chassis, just like the battery. So there is no need top pull a - reference.
