Got into my car after work the other night and there was absolutely no pressure when pushing on the clutch pedal. Also, it was hard to get the shifter to shift into gears. Going back into 1st as well as shifting was difficult. Drivable but I fear for not very long. Any ideas?

Ironic this happened to me last night, I was stuck at a light and it would not go in gear.

I had a very leaky clutch master cylinder. Check to see if you have brake fluid in your clutch master cylinder.

Check your slave and clutch line for leaks. No leaks then its probably time for new clutch and ball pivot for your fork in case it died too.

Sorry but where do I check that level? Is it the little reservoir on the driver side close to th firewall?

Wow. This is very Ironic indeed. This happened to me today. Actually have a thread about it a couple threads down. Must be that time of year.

Pedals not firm, probably air in the system. I'd remove the damper, replace the slave and CMC.

Damper? CMC?

What would brake fluid have anything to do with this problem? (As read above)

Anyone solve this issue as it seems a few are having the same prob?

Yes i did solve the issue by bleeding and adding brake fluid.

Check, Do you have brake fluid in the master cylinder?

We have a hyrdo clutch not a cable clutch. With no brake fluid you won't be able to put it in gear.

Damper is a device factory installed to make the clutch feel friendlier. They can go bad and clog up, and they just suck. CMC (clutch master cylinder). As far as fluid.... whatever is listed in the maintenance / owners manual. I think Nissan calls for a DOT3.

I didn't bleed the system... I just added fluid to the reservoir. It was below min, but not by much. I guess I would have to bleed the system and add to get the necessary results? Might just buy a new slave, bleed the system and see how that goes? What ya'll think?

Going to replace the slave tomorrow, I searched the tech page, is there a write up somewhere?

Also, since my pedal is basically dead will I have trouble bleeding the system?

Anyway to tell if it's my slave or CMC? How much is a CMC?

Cheap like 30 for a CMC and 10 for a slave. Bench bleed the CMC first, or just bleed and bleed it for a long time, and then keep bleeding it more times then needed to be sure.

Then check the stickies for how to's and then check the FSM for adjusting the clutch rod.

OK, so I replaced my slave and my clutch pedal was sitffer than ever! However, that only lasted for a short amount of time. My clutch pedal is now back to wat it was doing before... Could replacing the slave masked another problem? I was thinking of replacing the CMC, but could there be another underlying issue? Another slave gone bad? Tell me what you think ...

The system is simple. Pedal/master/line/damper/slave/fork/pressure plate.

When you bled the first time, did you bleed the damper as well?

Check for leaks right now, if no leaks, bleed the system good.

If it's still s*** replace the CMC, since you already did the slave. Buy a new unit, not a reman'd.

Bench bleed, run a new line that bypasses the damper, bleed system.

same thing happened to me the other day, clutch went soft then no clutch at all, turns out the egr pipe burned a hole through my stainless steel braided clutch line.
