Its nothing epic, just a cheap maaco paint job. Im just stuck between getting red or blue. My car was originally red, so my question is anyone else out there have blue verts? also is it really noticable with the inner door part not being painted either.

oh yeah and ill post pics after the car is painted of course

The door jams and engine bay will stick out when the hood/door is open.

Haven't seen too many Verts in blue though.

Grats on getting your vert painted. Soon as I save up some cash getting mine resprayed will be on the top of the list (as well as getting all the dings out). As for either going blue or red....just my opinion but I would go back red. The door jambs, under the hood and in the trunk will look like crap if not the same color. My friend changed the color of his car and didn't get a full respray and now he regrets not going with the original color. Look forward to seeing the pics!

maaco job = keep it red; i wouldn't trust them for a color change.

however, if you do decide to color change, do them a favor and remove everything ahead of time (aka your plastic trim, maybe even carpet, moulding, etc). Makes their life (and your life) a lot easier in the end.

but congrats! FINALLY painting her huh? I've been hoping you'd paint that red & black beast eventually.

i would say just keep it red unless youre going to paint your door jams and under the hood as well, then go for blue

thanks for your input guys. I wanted to do Nogaro red because it looked so sweet, but i didnt know so much was involved and I got quoted $1500 lol. So I figure if im gonna pay that much, I'd rather go all out and get blue and get the whole car painted

Please tell me it's $1500 from a local shop and not from a MAACO shop.

I hope your local MAACO is not like the majority of reviews I read about MAACO paint jobs.

Good luck!

Again, if you are going for the color change, make the painters' lives as easy as possible by removing as much as you can. Less overspray for you to be sad about afterward .

You know you could just do all the prep work your self and have a good shop spray the base and clear. I know you are not afraid of priming a car.

Get alot of 250 400 and 600 grit wetsand sandpaper. I just say get red.

But knowing you, you want what no one else has so blue is more likely.

Glad you still have the vert.

update

Ok so I'm just gonna save myself the 400 dollars and roll paint it red. I'd rather buy suspension stuff. I got the wing and the bumper kinda painted, I was doing more of a test run to see how it turns out. I dont think its bad.

I kinda rushed it so it doesnt really look as good as it should. I roll painted my S14 white and it looked pretty good for 35 dollars

ROFL.

So... $1500 -> $400 -> roller paint? AWESOME!

whatever floats your boat dood. I guess anything is better than that multi-colored goodness you had going on for a while, haha.

RJ did you used a tent to paint it? because it does not shine at all...

just get the car prime and get it paint by a professional because you will be very dissappointed if you paint it and it doesn't come out right.

but yeah... if you want to paint it yourself, get full protection of your face. i.e. respitory mask/ googles/full suit... etc... those fume and kill you

Im just using a foam roller and some rustoleum so I dont have to worry about breathing in anything. I'll be doing the rest of the car in a garage as well. True it wont be very shiny, but my funds are limited and I would rather get better suspension stuff and/or pay for school.

Oh my bad, I had thought this was YOUR car...

Have fun doing the door jambs, trunk, and (if you can even get to most of it) engine bay.

I probably wont even do it lol. Whenever I get a real job/career I wanna do Nogaro red still lol... someday I suppose but this will suffice.. oh..

just 4 coats, im waiting for it to dry, then wetsand and add 3 or 4 more coats, then 1500 wetsand and buff. Its a little shiny as it is now and its almost dry. I dont think its that bad for 50 bucks
