1. The Mercedez you are speaking of is the SLR McLaren.. and those aren't vertical doors, those are called gull wing doors!
2. Vertical doors on aftermarket kits MUST swing out first in order to clear the fender, there is just no way for it to go straight up and down
This is like the third or fourth person to come on the site with vertical doors on the A/C... we've heard all the comments before, all the reasons why they depreciate the vehicle, all of the problems they cause down the road, etc, etc, etc. It actually surprises me that people still put these on their cars... its kind of like spinning rims... there was a time when it was popular, but now spinning rims are just played out...
To the OP, its your car, do what you want, I've done the lambo door thing on my previous car back when it was popular and although I liked it for the first few months, I will NEVER, EVER, EVER do that to a car again... but to each his own.. enjoy your car!
LOL fine, so then my opinion is vertical doors are lame, Gull Wings are nice. Actually, I think in Jay Lenos article in Popular Mechanics the doors on the supercar he was writing about were true vertical doors. They went straight up and foward just like the doors on this car. Also, what happens when this guy has to park in a parking garage with a low roof. Utohhhhhh
