Previous owner of my 1992 vert put on Eibach ajustable coil springs over a complete set of Koni adjustable struts. He lowered the car a couple of inches which made it ride like a rock and bottom out all the time.I have adjusted the springs all the way up and it isn't so stiff, but stillbottoms out. Just not as much.

Any way to soften this up without going back to factory set up ?

I'll go back if thats the only way.

Thanks for the help.

Never heard of "Eibach adjustable coils"...

Not sure how you "adjusted" them, as that sounds like coilovers (which are completely different)...

Some pics would help a TON.

I'd say throw some Tein S-Tech springs in there and be done with it - Cheap, great ride, with a modest drop.

Ah, ok - You have adjustable shocks, buit the springs are a fixed height.

The adjustment you refer to does NOT change height, just dampening. It's likely the struts are bad.

Eibachs won't make it "bottom out". If that's it in the pic, it's not overly lowered, so either the struts are bad or there is another problem in the suspension.

send the struts back to koni to get them rebuilt, they are great shocks. if you have the eibach sportline they are pretty low... you might want to swap them for tein s techs, they are inexpensive and a lot of people really like them. I had them but they were too soft for my tastes. great for a sporty daily driver though.

If you do switch back to stock be aware that the stock vert springs were stiffer than stock coupe springs.

What top_secret said. Konis are spectacular struts and worth rebuilding, which Koni can do for you.

Eibach Sportlines are notoriously bad springs which do nothing but drop a car down low and usually have a terrible spring rate. Ditch them and put in something proper that only lowers the car about 1" or so. You need suspension travel.

Good luck.

The Koni's are almost brand new. So as you say, the springs must be the problem.I have no desire to lower the car (I'm a smooth ride kind of guy and want to keep my dental work in place) so I'm looking for springs to bring it up and make it smooth. Any sugestions ?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Just swap in some stock S13 springs. Should be able to get them for free from anyone here (post up a request in Classifieds).

you really need the vert springs, I gave mine away with my coupe. I'll ask the guy that bought them if he is replacing them, maybe you could get them off him.

oh I forgot I found a vert in the junkyard... they usually sell springs pretty cheap at the yard since they aren't really a normaly replacement part. I'll ask next time I go.

Can't have it down, I think I'll get some new factory springs.I 'll make a deal on the Eibachs once I get them off.

Question,

Will the factory springs adapt to the Koni Struts with no problems ?

yes any stock style spring should fit the struts. the only time you have to worry about springs fitting is if a coilover spring has been installed and the perch has been cut.

I guess that makes us mortal enemies, right from the start. Just kidding.

The convertible's springs are actually pretty good for the task at hand. I have a turbo'd SE-R with 350lb/in rear and 325 lb/in front springs in it, and I can tell you that you do not want to daily drive something like that. Yes, it handles incredibly well...but...it will remove your teeth on occasion.

Springs are one of the toughest things I'm going to have to replace on the 240 'vert. The factory ones are almost perfect (in terms of rate) except for being about 1" too high.
