if the hydraulic rams haven't been disconnected, they won't extend all the way

-or-

there could be something caught in the hinge of the mechanism

It is supposed to stop a little short, you pull it down and close it. Keeps tension on the top and keeps it tight and smooth.

To put it in to manual mode you just turn the handle to where it is pointing towards the rear.

Yeah I did that it just doesn't want to come all the way forward so I can latch it down. It stops short and when I pull forward it doesn't want to come forfward so I can latch it down

Take a pic of how close it gets. If it is within an inch seems like it should be able to be pulled down to latch it.

Seems like something may be getting hung up, but being that close you should be able to pull it down and latch it.

Yeah, could be stiff. But still think you should be able to pull it by the handle in the middle and latch it.

Mine does that too, I still havent figured it out, but its been a project for 3 years now and I havent tuoched the car in months. I want to change the top canvas in the spring and see if I can figure out whats holding it back. Let us know if you find out the problem.

I had a new top installed a bout 4 years ago and since then the top always comes to rest about an inch from where it locks down. I have to pull hard to get it down but once down it's tight and looks great.

Hopefully yours is just a little out of alignment. But mine does come about an inch closer than yours appears to.
