i have a hatchback s13 and want to put additional speakers on the sides in line w/ the rear seat like verts do from the factory. i was wondering though if the interior side pieces from the vert that have the speaker cover are able to have the cover removed and put into the side pieces form a hatchback. if so where can i get them. thank you

Would be possible, but just as simple to put the aftermarket grille from new speakers into the HB rear panels. Either way you are cutting the HB panel and putting them in. Doubt the rear HB panel has the room to put much of a speaker between panel and a mounting place on the metal.

i wanted the vert speaker covers to retain a more stock look. the hb has the same holes as the vert for the mounting location of the speakers so it should work no prob

while doing "inventory" in my "shop" (ie, sorting parts in my polebarn) i came across an extra set of the speaker-cover panels. there's 4 pieces: the actual speaker covers (x2) and the cover panel that goes into the larger rear interior panels (x2). i'll try to get a picture to you if you're interested.

yeah, if you want to buy these ones from me, shoot me an email:

just so you know, the speaker covers have seperated from the panels which seperated from the larger panels. you'll have to figure out some way to glue them all back together. i used contact cement on the ones in the car pictured. seems to be holding ok.

Hey white comet I am looking to do the same in my HB. I want to put 6.5in speakers in the back. I am wondering if you have put the speakers in yet and if you have how did it all fit together. did you have to cut anything.

to be honest try to make something in the back. you might not be too happy if you move them to the rear seats.

if you move some speakers to the rear seats you will loose sound quality and they won't sound as good as you think. you will not really be able to hear the rear driverside speaker.

i make a living doing audio and custom speaker stuff. if anything try to get some 6x9s in teh rear and fire them up facing the hatch. it will be much better.

i have done plenty of audio work in 240s, weather it may be hatch, convertible, coupe s13 or 14.

the biggest thing you can do for the s13 is put some tweeters in the doors or up higher in the car than the speakers.

^ thanks for the advice. i have some eclipse components on teh way to replace my worn out ones and my tweeters are mounted on the piece of plastic on the other side of the mirror so its all good. i have speakers in the factory rear location and just plan on adding the ones in the rear seat area. like i said mrgreeneyes did it already (forget what size speakers he used though) and its sounds great. i can see hearing them being a potential problem but with a full interior outside sounds are blocked pretty well and i dont think it will be an issue

The only rear side panel I have left is the passenger side one.You can see the pictures for the condition of it, at:

http://www.mypobox1.com/240sxparts.htm

However, I can tell you that I used Liquid Nails & Screws to put the insert back in after it fell out.

So, not sure how easy it would be to get it back out.
