If anyone in the Cincy/N. Ky area needs vert parts, there is a white vert at Reitman auto parts in Melbourne, Ky (about 20 mins south of downtown Cincy). According to the guy I walked around with, he said it had been there "forever, as in years". The top looked brand new, the windows were there, interior looked good. The back window was intact, but it was really dirty so I couldnt see if it was hazed, it didnt appear cracked anywhere that I could see. Everything from the firewall forward was gone, but from there back there was a lot of good stuff left. (The front seats looked brand new, so they are currently sitting in my garage awaiting a good cleaning prior to moving to their new home.)

A new top isnt hard to find, but if you need the frame, hardware, side windows, etc this might be worth checking out. I would have snatched everything myself if I had the money (I also own a boat, so no, I no longer have spare money of any kind). The guy who answers the phone there was very, very negotiable with prices, at least he was with me.

(ps. I am in no way affiliated with this yard at all, I'm just passing along what I thought was a good find. I rarely find 240's in yards anymore, esp. verts)

Good find! Thanks for sharing..

If you happen to go back there.. perhaps you could write down the VIN # for the registry.

A boat...Cool! Now you have two holes in which to throw your money

Me too. All I need now is a "fixer upper" rental property and I can declare bankruptcy.

We should be able to write off all the money we spend on our cars as charitible donations. We're giving back to the community right!

Holy coincidences Batman, I just looked in my pocket for money and the receipt was in there. On the receipt was the VIN.. I wouldnt have guessed that would be on there in a million years. I'll post it in the registry.

Kelly, if you think old verts, boats, and rental properties are money pits, try owning a 26 year old house that has cedar siding. I had a piece of trim fly off the house and hit the boat last night. So now I have money pit #3 physically assaulting money pit #1. If that isnt adding insult to injury, nothing is.

when you say everything from the firewall forward is gone, do you mean engine/transmission/body wise? has everything just been stripped/removed or have things been cut? is there any rust on the chassis? was it wrecked? can you get some pictures?

this has the potential to be my replacement - if it's straight and clean and uncut. i'd be more than happy to take everything off of it and sell it to you folks for a very low price. then i'd put my vert backtogether on this chassis.

my hopes have just been raised a little bit.

how much do you think they'd charge for the whole car if i were interested?

All the forward body panels were off the car, engine was gone, transmission gone, the top was perfect, the front seats were perfect (and are no longer there, courtesy of me), the back seats were there. The console and trim were all intact, I dont remember if the cluster was there. Glass looked good.. trunk lid, rear bumper good. The doors good that I can remember, I really didnt inspect the outside much since I was there for the seats and I was racing the clock. I think the suspension was intact. I was looking at 2 other 240's there, I'm trying to remember which was which and what had what. I dont recall seeing any rust on the vert.

Anyway, I could get pictures I'm sure, problem is its a good hike from my house to get there and back, I took part of the afternoon off to get there early (plus it was sunny and 75 so I wanted to get out go vert'n in the sun) so I'm really not sure when I could do it, at least in the near future. I have no doubt they would snap a picture for you if they were willing to sell the whole car.

They have a website at http://www.reitmanautoparts.com/, give them a call and talk to Dennis, I think thats him that answers the phone the most. Super nice guy. Of the yards I have been to around here these people were the nicest to deal with that I have run into. I wouldnt call them the cheapest, but none of them around here seem to be anyway.
