Or IN, should I say. Went to my friend's house for a day of fishing. Parked the vert in his driveway and thought, "its 90 degrees out, what the heck its a good neighborhood I'll just leave the top down." We piled up in his Taurus X and went off to Gunpowder River, close to PA, far from where we live. We hopped in the river and did some good fishing for a few hours, then got into the raft and headed downstream back to the car when the sun went down. Navigating a raft down a river with no light is a bit difficult, so we fell out and got soaked a few times, but we finally made it back to his car.

Cold and wet, we started the drive home. I was looking forward to a dry car, with a dry set of clothes in it, so I could go back home and be nice and comfy. I was not so fortunate. We got to his house to find that there was some major thunderstorm in our area. The vert got DRENCHED. Luckily, no water hit my dashboard or any electronics in it, but the seats, carpet, and speakers were all drenched. I had a sloppy, sloshy ride home and started taking everything apart. I took out the seats and the carpet to find roughly 4 liters of water running around my floor. I sopped that all up and covered everything with baking soda (it was 2 in the morning, I was ready to pass out). So today, I need to get in there and clean everything up.

The heat pads on the carpet are pretty much done and the carpet has all kinds of stains on it now. I guess I'm going to have one of those "gutted racecar" interiors now, since my doorpanels and rear panels warped and broke a long time ago. I need to take a wire brush to a few spots that developed some mild surface rust, and then I'll probably Rhino-line a lot of stuff (a carpet IS going back in there for sure, its just a matter of when...) Cleaning the seats is going to be fun too :squint: And hopefully my speakers still work. I didn't turn on my radio or anything yet, so hopefully the speakers are still useable.

Anyway, thats my adventure for the weekend. Has this happened to anyone else?

I never leave the top down unless I'm going to be within running distance to the car. The weather will get you, can't trust it or the weathermen that try to predict it.

I hate that for you - but don't feel like the lone ranger. I left my windows down about an inch in my M30 convertible while I went to the movies. Same thing, hot summer day, not a cloud in the sky, top up but windows down slightly. During the movie I could hear booms and rumbling but thought is was the movie next door. Came out to about 2" in my floor boards from a huge downpour. I got as much up with towels I had in the trunk and dried the rest out when I got home.

Hopefully you'll be fine. Unless you live near a coalmine rainwater is clean and shouldn't be a problem provided you let it all dry out.

Good luck!

Alright well I got in there today. I plugged my ipod in, turned the key, hit the auxiliary button, and was overjoyed when I heard the sound of Pendulum flowing out of every speaker. The windows, cigarette lighter, and side windows all work as well. Tomorrow I'm going to get some Rhino-liner spray cans and do the floor again. I'm also going to get some black carpet paint and paint my carpet. Does anyone know where to get the heat/sound dampening pads that are on the carpet, or anything like it? Will house insulation work?

Haha don't worry krash, I did that twice. Everything was drenched and I didnt have the rear panels on protecting my speakers. Everything was fine though. You would think I would learn the first time... nope lol

I got out in the hot sun today and finished the floor.

This is after I vaccuumed up most of the baking soda:

I had to take some of the sound deadening off to dry the moisture under it. It was so hot outside, the sound deadening just peeled off in certain areas:

Here you can see surface rust already forming:

And after some rubberized undercoating:

I hate not having a carpet, but at least this is dark enough to hide any crappyness on the floor. Hopefully the junk yard has a coupe with a clean carpet. The undercoating I used is pretty beefy, I'm happy with the final product.

I got a stock grey carpet from my vert if you're looking for one :) Pretty darn clean, it's just grey.

Thanks man, but I think I'm going to "rebuild" my old one. I found some extra heat mats that I can use, so I think I'm just going to paint the carpet to cover the stains. On a side note, bed liner is tough as hell!
