Okay, technically Tiida spotting, but you get the idea. I just returned from a trip to Beijing and Shanghai, and was extremely surprised to see Tiidas everywhere! If I looked, I saw 5-10 per day, which is way over the average around my area here in the states.A few photos are attached for your entertainment:

I'm here now, and I'll have to agree. I see them everyday but there are so many cars on the road anyway, you're bound to see several Tiidas if your out long enough. I was hoping to find some Tiida accessories in between work. Did you happen to find any during your trip? If you did, where in Beijing?

Hey, they can get their hatchbacks in Sonoma Sunset! That's not fair!

@EV: Yeah, they also get this sweet champagne gold color that is almost the same as my '88 300ZX. I'd love to have my V in that color!

@Greygoose: No, I didn't find any accessories, but then again, I wasn't looking.Do you mean you live in Beijing or are just visiting?

I'm just here on business, but I was hoping to take time on the weekend to pick up some things for my Versa that I can't get back home.

I do, actually. I had a Kia that was a very very similar color called Pepper Red.

I'm not a fan of fire engine red like Red Alert. I like darker reds, and Sonoma Sunset fits that perfectly.

Oh, and Elmojo - the gold color you describe is the second of two colors available in the US only on the Sedan. they call it Sandstone or something like that.

I live in Beijing and I own a Tiida. I see them everywhere. They are possibly one of the most popular cars in Beijing except for the QQ. I own a black one and there are three others in my building parking garage.

BTW, the last time I checked my gas mileage, I got 32.9 mpg and that was a combination of driving in very congested city traffic, and highway driving with 4 people in the car and averaging 75 to 90 on the freeway with the air conditioning on full blast. I don't know why I am getting such great mileage but I am not complaining. I love this car.

Also, the car came standard with ABS and a sunroof. No iPod connection, satellite radio, or blue tooth. The build quality is perfect. No defects.

My wife tell me that the price of our Tiida has dropped around $2500 since I bought it last June. I don't know why that is either except for the common reply to all things here - TIC. "This Is China".

What sized engine is in your Tiida?

I'm guessing your Tiidas are built in Japan, so I'm guessing a 1.5 or 1.6L, since that's what Japan uses? that alone could account for the fuel economy difference, since we use a 1.8L.

Should be 1.6L.

The Tiida is built by the Dongfeng Motor joint venture in China. (Look at the photo of the blue Tiida and the emblem on the right side.)

mac, I wish I had checked back earlier. I only have a half day left in Beijing before I fly home tomorrow. Where is the closest Nissan dealer where I might be able to buy accessories for the hatch? I'm at the Sheraton Great Wall. Thanks.

The best Nissan dealer is very close to your hotel. Just go north up the street to the Kepenski Hotel/Yan Sha shopping mall and take a right. You are on the second ring road. Go east towards the third ring road. It's down about a mile on your left side of the street. Best dealer in town.

I can't believe how many V'rs there are in China! And here I thought I was alone. I wish I'd have thought to ask before I went, maybe we could have got together for a V/Tiida photo shoot or something?!

EV: Thanks for the info. I wish that color was available in the hatch. I would have snapped it up in a second!
