Versa won't start until I remove gas cap

2007 Versa, 36,000 miles. SOMETIMES won't start until I remove & replace Gas Cap.Have tried new gas cap.

Vapor lock or something? DO you hear air rushing in when you crank it?

Do not hear air when trying to start.
Drilled a hole in the gas cap. Seemed to have eased the problem.
After about 50 miles, check engin light comes on. Replace gas cap with new one. Light goes out in less than 2 miles?
