Does anyone know any info. on being a photographer? Like if the pay and is it relaxing..bla bla bla...any help would be fine!
I was a photographer for years, I went to school for it and everything. I also lived in an artist's co-op so I had my own studio/darkroom. I also worked in several photo labs doing custom printing. I shot weddings and portraits, and did a little restoration/printing in my own darkroom. I think you could buy 2 Versas for what I spent on equipment/supplies, not including what I spent on school. I think the most I ever made in a year, just from my work, was about $12,000. THis is in the late 90s, I got tired of not being able to buy food so I went back to school for a different job. Don't get me wrong, I love taking/developing/printing pictures and I really liked doing it, but in order to really succeed at it, you have to work 24-7 and be a good salesman, nowdays with digital stuff anybody with a couple hundred $ camera can shoot weddings/portraits and stuff, you don't necessarily need to lay out as much cash as I did when I started. I guess the quick answer is if you really want to do it, go for it but it definitely isn't relaxing! Personally, the more I did it for $, the less I wanted to do it for myself and I just wasn't enjoying it by the time I quit. Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, I hope nobody ends up with that wet Versa later this year.
