What size and offset are the stock wheels/tires on the S model Versa sedan? Anyone know?

I had heard from a friend that alloy rims use different tires than steel wheels and that if I purchased rims I would have to purchase new tires as well. Now I have recently read on this website that you can get alloy rims and use your old tires if they are the right size. This certainly interest me and I was hoping that someone on this forum would know, thanks!

There are two things that determine what size of tires you use on your car.

Wheel diameter, and wheel width.

As long as you get an alloy wheel with the same diameter and width as the stock wheels, your old tires will work just fine.

Dose you know the diameter and width of the stock wheels? or where I can find it?

Pretty sure the sedan and hatch are the same size wheel 15 x 5.5 aluminum or steel.tires 185/65/15.

I got 205/70/15s on my hatch, the stock tires came off at 750 miles.

I can't find any 15x5.5 rims anywhere online, maybe I am just not looking hard enough. For some reason 15x6.5 seems a lot more common.

5.5s are really small, not many (or any) aftermarket companies will make that narrow of a wheel.

Are your tires bulging at all?

The ideal wheel width is 6 inches for 205/70/15 tires but the approved wheel width range is 5 to 7. A friend told me the 205/70s look more like the right size for the car than the small 185/65s. No bulging at all. they are fine on the 5.5 inch wheels.

How far is your speedo off?

8%. When I'm reading 70 on the speedometer I'm actually doing 75.6.Stock tires are 24.5" OD. The 205/70s are 26.5" OD.

So I have to ask and play the devil's advocate here. Why go with wider, higher profile tires on the stock wheels? Why not get a 205/55 or get bigger wheels?

my goal is absolute max diameter for increased overdrive at minimum cost (hence no new wheels). 195/75/15s would be best but they don't make that size. Actually the 205/70s I have are only slightly wider in tread width than the 185/65s.The narrower the tread width the better chance you can increase diameter without rubbing anywhere.
