Does anyone notice a slight "whiring" sound when turning the steering wheel? I notice it when I'm backing out of a parking space with no radio on. It's not loud, but it is noticeable. Thinking it might be the electric power steering. I've never had a car, before this one, that has had elec PS, so perhaps I'm just not use to the sound. Anyone else hearing this too?

It is quieter than a belt driven PS pump, and does not rob HP.

Now they just need to get the AC condenser pump off the belts.

I can't recall listening to my V with the radio turned off and maneuvering at low speeds, but I can tell you that my old XT6 (which had electric steering) did make a slight noise at low speeds.

I usually don't turn the steering wheel too fast, so I haven't heard that noise, but I have felt a slight clunk in the steering wheel. It's very subtle, but I figure it's just he "character" of electric power steering in a cheap car. Overall, I love to very light steering zipping around town. I'm reminded how light it is everytime I get in my fiancee's '06 Altima.

I do notice a slight whirrr, and a "thunk" when the steering travels all the way to a stop to the left. I dunno, the car still turns, so Its not a big deal

I hear a slight "whir" when I have the steering wheel of my parents' van cranked all the way. If I let up on it a bit, the sound goes away.

It only makes the sounds when I'm actually turning the wheel. It's really a very quiet sound, so you have to have the radio off to hear it. I don't think it's a problem, but I just wanted to see if anyone else on the site could hear it too. If anyone could try listening for it next time they back their car out of a parking space, that would be great.

I hear it. Driving my Versa actually reminds me of playing GTR or GTR2 with my Logitech MOMO FF Wheel, only not quite as much force feedback

Yes, you are not alone, I hear this "whir" sound too. ONLY when I turn the steering wheel. It really quiet. But I'm not concerned.

Yes, I hear it when backing out of my stall. But that is the only time.
