Hello everyone, hopefully this is the right place..

I had a test drive for 2008 Nissan Versa SL this afternoon and it was great, way better than i thought. But i was confused about the remote keyless entry.

On Nissan Versa Canada website the key was pictured like this:

and engine keyless starter

To my surprise the real Versa SL at O'regon's Nissan in Halifax, Nova Scotia has no such things. It just has a regular key with a three-button key fob. Similar to this pic

The only answer from O'regon's Nissan is that "Nissan Canada puts a wrong picture for that @#$%^&*"

So does anyone have the same question? or is that intelligent key only offered in US?

The iKey is part of the Convienence package. What probably happened is that they didn't have any with the package. I know there are a few members from Canada here that have it, so I'm thinking the dealer was feeding you a line. Or maybe the person you talked to just didn't know what they were talking about.

Just glanced at the Nissan Canada site and they don't indicate anywhere that the I-key is available in Canada. No convenience package.

I would guess that Nissan just threw some U.S. Versa pictures on the site and no one noticed.

Woogie, are you sure the cars you're thinking of really are Canadian Versas?

There are not supposed to be any Canadian Versas with the iKey package. Any that are up there are either factory one-offs, or American Versas brought up there for fun.

Wow, that sucks. You mean my Canuck buddies can't get the iKey unless they buy an American V?

I love my iKey...

My only complaint is that both keyfobs (I've had 2 Versas one with iKey one without) is that the Panic Alarm needs to be more recessed...I keep setting it off in my pocket, LOL

Perhaps some of them are one offs or something...

Sucks that you Kanucks don't get iKey, but then again, you guys get standard ABS on the SL and we don't so I guess it kind of evens out.

I know, I would have LOVED to have the ikey. I don't know why they don't have it on the Versas here. It's not like the feature doesn't exist in Canada. They have it on the Altimas and Maximas.

Anyways, the dealership can disable the panic alarm for you. I kept hitting mine by accident and they disabled it for me.

Thanks for the info on disabling the panic alarm. Mine goes off all the time while the key is in my pocket, too.

Sorry, didn't mean to inadvertantly hijack your thread...was just stating my experience with the panic alarm...I won't disable it unless it becomes necesssary, LOL.

I guess Nissan decided that since daytime running lamps and ABS are standard on the Canadian V, it outweighed making the iKey available?

Makes no sense to me though, seeing as the iKey is an option...not standard equipment :
