I recently installed a home-made hydrogen generator on my 2007 Versa with CVT. The idea is that the HHO gas is produced and ran into the air intake. You then modify the air intake sensor signal to lean the air/fuel mixture saving you gas. At first, my car reved up and bounced the rpm's up and down. Ex. On the fwy my rpm's will be at 2,000 then rev up to 2,500 rpm's. It does this every 4 seconds or so. After this, I completely unistalled the device used to "enhance" the air flow sensor. The car went back to I thought normall operation, then it just lost power and got P0746 error.I cleared the SES error and just took the car out for a test drive. The only issue(that I could duplicate) is after the engine is fully warm my RPM's start to jump around when the engine is placed on a slight load. (i.e I slowly start to accelerate at about 50 mph the engine goes from 2,000 to 2,500) - It hasn't been enough to cause the SES light to come on, but there is a problem for sure. Could I have caused a malfunction in the air flow sensor? I would like to try the dealer as a last resort.

Thanks

Are you really wondering why your home-made creation is not working correctly? Now I'm not trying to bust your stones but if you are changing one of the key. By altering what the computer knows the burning rate of the air that should be mixed with the fuel the fuel map and transmission gear presets need to be altered to accommodate the altered variable like Mass Airflow Calculated Load and Grams Per Second reading. By installing the device you mentioned which I assume is some sort of resistor into the circuit you are lying to the computer on only one.

You will need to reformat the ECM to accommodate your altered air mixture. What MPG improvements are expected from such a system and what does it use to generate Hydrogen, algae? Sounds like a decent idea but you need to update the software to get it to work correctly.

Good luck.

trade your cvt for a manual and shift like a grandma, at least your warranty will still apply

With adding the HHO gas into the air intake and just modifing the MAF sensor, I went from 32 mpg hwy to 41 mpg hwy. My problem is a bad MAF sensor. (went to the dealer) - It looks like some water from the generator made its way up into the air intake and splashed on the sensor. I need a better spot to add the HHO gas to the intake.

By the way, if I buy a used MAF sensor and install it myself, do I need to have the onboard computer programmed to work with the sensor? I should be able to install the new sensor and be good to go. Right?

Thanks,Matt
