Im tired of the Versa being talked about simply as an econocar. I think theres nothing greater than getting out in my Versa and tearing up backroads around Atlanta. It may only be a 4cyl but I havent had any problems beating back some eager civics and my cars mostly stock. Is there anyone else out there who simply wants to make Honda owners cry?

You have me all wrong, I own a Civic and an Accord, I just think there is way to much hype on the Hondas and not enough for the Versa. I think my Versa handles way better than any of my other cars and I think has way more potential. Im just depressed that theres so few performance parts out....a couple axle back exhausts, a few CAI's, hell theres more strut bars available than anything else....

Well, it's still early in the development of an aftermarket for the Versa, so that's part of why not a lot is available.

But also, this may be a case of bad timing. I imagine as the price of gas creeps ever higher, the availability of TRUE power-generating mods will decline for ALL cars.

i highly doubt a versa will out handle any truely performance oriented honda ie civic si/r, integra, s2000, prelude.... a civic ek or whatev maybe but neither your car nor that is made to be a race car.

Yeah I wouldnt have a chance against those......yet. But I really dont see why the Versa couldnt at least give some of those a run for their money..Or should I say I want to see a Versa give one of those a run for their money. I wouldnt mind the cost of 12mpg to get my Versa competitive with those.

I agree. Nissan's product line will outperform Honda's any day, class for class.

Enjoy your Versa. Ignore the haters.

I understand what your trying to say but I dont think he said he could beat any of those cars besides the civic and he didnt say anything about an si. Thats like comparing a bike to a motorcycle.

And there may be alot of hype on civics now but back in the day they were just like the versa, so maybe 20 years from now someone will be saying the same exact thing about V's.

I few years back i saw a amatuer race on the SPEED channel. Modifed nissans vs. modified hondas. Hondas were passing on the turns while nissans tore them up on the straights. If anyone else saw this you'll know what i'm talking about.

Actually Every car I've owned previously to this has been a honda civic (lol) and I have loved each and every one them, currently I still own a 91 civic with a jdm b16 swap front clip and various other jdm goodies I bought the versa to be my daily driver because the civic is kinda sidelined right now with some bizare wiring issue I haven't been able to crack yet . Upon first buying my V I thought it was just so-so, but after driving it and adding a few things I'm starting to like it as much as my civics, I just wish it were faster, my friends sx4 consistantly eats my v for lunch lol..... But I'm hoping that aftermarket will catch on for the v...... if not, I guess I'll just keep my civic for when I wanna go fast

Not really. Our Versa barely can beat our lawn mower. Did not particularly want our HS kids thinking they could out run anyone. If they tried, they would probably hear the laughter from the other cars.

Hey... they could probably outrun my Rambler... at least until I get the 304 in it.

Actually the Versa has a race version just not USDM yet... here's a link http://www.nissan-motorsports.....html to check out last years NISMO 's coverage of the 2007 China Circuit Championship the Tiida/Versa placed 2nd not bad for a non-race car

They race bicycles too, doesn't mean their fast. You have to look at what this Tiida is racing against, this isn't exactly a great sports car competition.

Its all relative to everyone though.

It would depend on what an individuals definition of fast is, also for Tiida/Versa race class it holds it's own quite well enough to make Nissan/NISMO sponsor it as well. NISMO knows a little about racing as well as what can be made fast wouldn't you agree..

By the way what's your definition of a great sports car competition

Porsche vs Corvette, Lamborghini vs Ferrari, Subaru vs Mitsubishi, Viper vs NSX, Camaro vs Mustang or 09' Skyline vs whatever...

Here's a competion you might find interesting---->http://www.flickr.com/photos/yoorch/1414685248/

Now onto bicycles, there are some like these--->http://www.wisil.recumbents.co...0.htm

Funny I can remember when many thought the 240sx was a dog then came the jdm motor swap now it's a respected ride in the US.. so give the Versa tuners some time to do the same as Honda crews building their car with K20's and F20C's motors ...

Here's my definiton of Fast Cars;A car can only be as fast as the drivers wallet $$$$$

The problem is that Nissan unlike Honda has many different platforms and they are not all alike. Almost any Honda engine will fit into any of their other cars. The Versa, especially being from technically a different car company doesn't have any engines that will swap in, its kinda the bastard step child at this point.

Things may change in 15-20 years, who knows. By then there will be arguements of who's electric car is consider a sports car.

And your sig is way too big.

Sig fix no biggie

Currently Nissan is using three platforms here a litle more info on that for those that don't know about them,

B: The B platform was a front wheel drive automobile platform for compact cars from Nissan. A new subcompact/B-class B platform will be shared by Nissan and Renault.

Vehicles:

Nissan Cube Nissan March Nissan Micra Renault Modus

A version with stretched wheelbase is used for the following cars:

Nissan Note (Tone) Nissan Cube Cubic Nissan Tiida

FM: The Nissan FM platform is a modern FM layout automobile platform. The name is derived from the "front midships" location of the engine, with it being pushed as far back to the firewall as possible, creating a weight distribution that's close to 50:50. This platform debuted with the 2001 V35-series Nissan Skyline.

Nissan Skyline/Infiniti G35 V35-series Nissan Fuga/Infiniti M Y50-series Nissan 350Z Nissan Stagea M35-series Infiniti FX SUV

C:Production Nissans using this platform has only begun to surface in 2004, with the Japanese-market 7-seater Lafesta. The Nissan Tiida/Tiida Latio, whose size falls in the C segment, uses a stretched Nissan B platform.

Vehicles:

2004 Renault Megane 2004 Nissan Lafesta 2006 Nissan Qashqai

As far as motors go there are 4 Tiida versions, hopefully the Cube will take off when it hits the US and push fabricators to develop more for the Versa turbo's, suspensions etc...

Funny electric sports cars, they'll race until the battery runs out.. full grown RC's on the loose ..

1.5-litre straight-4 HR15DE* gasoline engine JDM 1.6-litre straight-4 HR16DE gasoline engine JDM1.8-litre straight-4 MR18DE gasoline engine JDM/USDM1.5-litre straight-4 K9K-1.5 diesel engine JDM

*note: the HR15DE also has an available superharger from IMPUL

Yes, there are other engines, but all are not USDM that will fit the Versa and the Versa already has the largest/most powerful one.

The only hope for Versa hp is turbo/supercharger applications and so far no one is really jumping on R&D for a mass produced kit (probably something to do with the 'econocar' comment).

I'm working with one of my sponsors (BC Racing) to have coilovers prototyped for the Versa. More info when available.

Let me know if you need a testbed for any products. Im working with a body shop to get some new body mods possibly a full kit. I will let everyone know how that goes.

Apparently the intake manifold from dynatek is still on its way, someone emailed them and posted the reply on her somewhere, I've e-mailed them myself and asked about the other parts that they were supposed to have in development such as a header, cat-back exhaust and a turbo kit... just waiting on a response. I'll let you know when I hear something.

Neither were those cars in the beginning. It doesn't mean that they can't become one.

Yeah biggie,

Just info for some of the less up to date members, funny I emailed the Dynatek guys that made the intake manifold they did not respond back, I was willing to buy at retail but no reply back from them.

I could have even picked it up at the Las Vegas location since I was there for over a week on vacation.

A better way for them to market would be for them to build then sell it like Seibon did with carbon fibre hood & trunk, or if they don't feel good about that to start taking group buy down payments. They might find there are enough people to cover the cost even if they only give $50-$100 discount or free shipping that could help then off to a good start.

If not hopefully one of the other fabricators such as AEM, Fujita 5, Stillen or Tanabe make a push for more performance.

And BlueMango, true just because something starts one way doesn't mean it can't or won't change.. great observation
