Did anyone else get a questionnaire from Nissan Engineers asking questions about your Versa? Here's a copy and paste of the invite letter:

We hope you are enjoying your Nissan Versa. Nissan engineers are committed and passionate about providing their consumers high quality vehicles now, and in the future. To ensure that our engineers deliver on this and meet the expectations of Nissan owners, we invite you to participate in our online survey regarding your Versa. Your feedback will be received by our engineers directly.Below, you'll find a link to a quick survey that should take no longer than ten minutes to complete.

It was pretty extensive, asking if I had problems with the interior, exterior, engine, starting, brakes, transmission, upholstery problems and a miriad of other possible problems. I complained about the following:

Weak paint on bumpers, peeling from slightest impactsBad quality plastic inside the hatch, marks up easilyFogging up problemNoisy wind problem even at low speedsNoisy climate control fan at highCheap stereo in SL hatchStains on headliner, sun visor and seat upon receipt

I guess they are running scared after the Toyota p.r. disaster. Good to see some auto manufacturers can learn from those who fail.

If I get the questionnaire, I will tell them that I am very satisfied with my Versa.

The paint looks great after three years. The plastic trim inside the hatch area is a bit marked up because I have used it for over three years and many things have scraped up against it so it looks typical of any car's trunk or hatch area. I have no fogging problem and the climate control has been great. The fan is no noiser in my Versa than any other car I've owned.

Overall, I'm impressed with the quality of the materials, workmanship and reliability.

I haven't gotten one either.. but I have also be pretty happy with my Versa. The only problem I had they fixed it for free and gave me a free rental car (Hybrid Altima) until my car was fixed.

Nissan did a great job with my issue.

My only beef with my one-week-old Versa is that the air vents creak and rattle over bumps. When I press the air vent housing slightly, it makes that typical brittle plastic sound. But at least I KNOW where the rattles are coming from.

In the days of fishing scams, I'd be worried to where the link is taking me and what info they want.

I doubt we are "running scared" because of Toyota. Nissan does care what you like and don't like with the car. They will use the feedback from many of the current owners to tell them what people like and design to meet those interests and design to fix the problems that people have.

I got it, too, and was quite impressed. It was well-designed and programmed survey, and I was glad to take the time to answer it. Maybe it's all fluff, but it did give the impression that they really wanted to know about any problems folks are having with the cars, whether or not they were bad enough to bring in to the dealer.

I wasn't worried about that, they addressed me by name and my lease number.

I agree, it was a good questionnaire. Why they wanted to know this stuff, who knows. Maybe just create a better vehicle next time out. I like my V despite the few things that bug me.

My suggestions to them would be pretty minor. I expect some things like rattles and such out of an econobox, so I wouldn't bug them much in that area.

I would have them place a mesh behind the front grill openings, both top and bottom, to protect the radiator better from road debris and bugs. In lieu of that, change the grill and the openings below the grill on the front of the car. The openings are too big. I installed the mesh myself but it shouldn't have been necessary.

Weather stripping around the doors should not be lifting from the cars when you open the doors. They should either apply an adhesive to it or clip it into place prior to delivery. The current design is simply too weak.

From what I hear from newer owners they should go back to giving the driver the option of turning off the A/C compressor after turning on the defroster. Many times I just run the defroster for ventilation when we don't want the air blowing on us in the car. The defroster setting is not just for clearing the front window.

Last, and definitely not least, they should incorporate an instant mpg readout option into the tripmeter. I believe the car is already tracking it as part of the onboard computer system and the info should be provided to the driver. Especially important when you're basing your advertising heavily on the car's gas mileage ability. Let the consumer more easily find those efficient mpg ranges that are being achieved in testing. Then the consumer can balance between power and mpg without having to install his/her own gauge for it. Many other cars including my Buick have had it for years and it's not an expensive add-on.

My 2007 Versa SL has been a very good all-around car. Very good, dependable, versatile and practical from an engineering design standpoint.

I hope to get this survey. I have been quite disappointed with my Versa and do not feel comfortable with overall long term reliability.

If you drive a Versa Hatchback... open just the back windows, there is a major design flaw here as you can create a some bad pressure and make your eyes feel like they are going to burst.

When I received my Versa the remote entry did not work, and it took 5 visits to a dealership to repair it. I had to call several times until they would offer me a rental car. And even then it took a week to fix. When it returned there were large rattles from the doors.

And now. I have what I think is a problem with the transmission with high jumping RPMs frequently.

Gas mileage never lived up to the promise.

Still enjoy the versa... but feeling a little less proud to drive it.

Almost any car in which you open just the rear windows will create this effect. This is not limited to the Versa.

If the remote took five trips it's the dealers fault. Go to a different dealer.

One thing that I forgot on my earlier suggestions.

The dash lights should NOT come on when the ignition is turned on. This is definitely a safety issue. It's amazing how many Versas I see after dark in parking lots and on well lit streets that don't have their headlights on. I've had many owners complain that they didn't realize they weren't on because the dash lights were on.

My wife is especially guilty of this because the other vehicles she drives all have automatic headlights.

They need to add automatic headlights to the 2011 Versa at no extra charge! They finally added ABS.

I never thought we were to get them here in Canada too!

The only problems I told them was the crazy fogging up and extremely bad MPG. 98% open road and 2% city driving my best was 25.8 mpg...lol SL with CVT keeping the engine under 2500rpm always.

I took my moms RAV4 V6 2009 for three weeks to go to work while she was in Europe and it gave me a solid 30+ mpg same route same speed. Shame lol. Time to change I guess. lol

Well, I just got my second one! Of course, I've bought two Versa's, so I guess it's not necessarily a mistake. And my experience has been the same in the second as in the first, other than not having the iKey and steering wheel audio controls in the first, so I don't mind telling them the same things twice!

I don't think they're running scared either. I received a survey about 6-9 months after I purchased my V and that was back in 2008.

Think of it as they are collecting data as to what the consumer's want. How else do you ask, what would you like in a new car? Your suggestion may not show up in the next model year, but maybe in the next design generation.

I have been pushing them for years to incorporate the transition film (like eyeglasses) to the windows so I don't have to tint them. I realize all states can vary on the legal limit, but you could tint them to the highest limit, which might be 35% (for example). You could still have the UV protection on the windows also if the sheets were either combined or they were put in the glass in the correct order.
