Hey guys, a lot of folks around here, including myself, have always been interested in the performance abilities of our car. Well, good news; I have some details to share with the community today. How about some numbers for a STOCK CVT Versa SL? With two guys in the car, I'm 185, my buddy is 300, we did some tests. It's all legit folks, if you do not believe me, check it with motor trend.

Pretty good numbers. Keep in mind I spend much of my time hypermiling, where I often achieve 45 mpg around town, I am not a ricer, a racer, or anything of the sort, any attempt to berate me for posting this information will fall on deaf ears. For everyone else, please enjoy!

It's actually my friends Iphone, the times were very accurate, double checked with stopwatch in vehicle. It uses pretty simple math to determine horsepower, you input vehicle weight, and it calculates it for you based on the times. Pretty interesting stuff to say the least.

So it pretty much says Versa has 120 whp? Don't think it's very accurate, but pretty good for an iPhone application =)

Yeah, I would imagine the WHP would have been a little lower, this sheet was from the best run, and it was 119. I had two other runs, I would say the average was around 110, which is probably more accurate with an advertised 122 at the crank. Like you said, not bad for an app!!

I just wanted to point out the fact that the advertised HP by Nissan is a chosen number by nissan to advertise, and is not a exact number. It is not uncommon at all for car makers to use a pretty far off number from the really power numbers. For example, Ford has been know to overrate there power numbers in the mustangs for the last few generations, were as Chevy has been know to underrate there cars power. We could be seeing the samething here with Nissan.

I talked to my buddy who is a GTR tech for nissan and he was telling me that all the GTR's are underrated, thats one of the reasons they are so much fast then they appear on the paper.

Just somethings to think about.

I'd say the specs from Nissan are pretty close. My Versa is quick but I have a CVT that I'm sure takes advantage of the engine's powerband. There's no contest with other small cars with engines such as 2.4 liters and such though,

It IS for the iPods touch and iPhone. Other iPods do not have the capability of installing and running non-Apple applications.

120 WHP is optimistic. And way off from being realistic with 485 pounds of driver and passenger weight. But, like any dyno results, they are not to be taken as absolutes. They only provide a point of reference or baseline for future reference (add a few mods, then do another run, compare and contrast the results).
