the overheat light comes on and the a/c shuts off in city traffic. at longs lights slow traffic ect. i took it to the dealer they said that they could find nothing wrong but that the computer had not stored an error code and that it should have if it had overheated. they said that it is probably a bad sensor. has any one else had a problem with the overheat light. i tried searching the forum but i cant search the versa forum only."Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub » Versa Forum »" and this topic bar is included in the search therefor searching for "versa overheating" ect does not really work

Did they check the operation of the cooling fans and thermostat?

If you're stuck in traffic on a hot day if the cooling fan fails, the engine temperature most likely would reach the maximum temperature setpoint (probably around 240-250F. THe computer will shut off the A/C to reduce hte load on hte engine and may also richen the fuel mixture (helps cool the engine down) and retard the ignition timing (reduces performance)

hmm, it sounds like a bad sensor somewhere. An issue like that is going to be hard to duplicate. If you can get it to do it again and you have the time, head straight to a dealer. That way at least you can have someone besides yourself aware that it is happening.

The problem is likely a failure in the Body Control Module. The BCM controls the interior lighting, AC clutch, exterior lighting, TPMS, some warning lights, cruise control, etc.

FYI, the search probably didn't work because noone has experienced an overheat light in a Versa yet.
