I just recently installed the nose mask for my 2009 nissan versa. I had a very hard time figuring out where everything went, but with the help of a friend, I managed to get it on. While I'm still trying to figure out where the little pads go, I'm going to leave that for now. I understand WHERE they go, but I can't seem to get it under the grill.

Anyway, my question actually is: people who live in climates where it actually rains semi frequently (like in Canada), do you still remove your nose mask every single time it gets wet? That could mean removing it daily at some times of the year. And since I live alone, in an apt building with outdoor above ground parking - removing it every single day (or even weekly) isn't convenient or much of an option. (I'm not a hugely strong female)

And does it really ruin the paint if you don't clean underneath once a month or so? I'll remove it when I wash my car if I have too . . .

I drive a lot in Alberta and after one trip to Peace River the nose mask is a must!

Think of all the rocks and pebbles that will get stuck in between the mask and your hood, and think of all the vibration your car goes thru. Each pebble will slowly grind scratches into your paint. A clear bra might be a better solution as it is near invisible and it will protect against rock chips.

That would definately be very difficult to remove everytime it rains but I guess its up to you. I bought the hood deflector from my dealership. Nothing gets caught in it and it doesn't need to be removed when it rains. My dad had a nose mask once on a previous car many years ago. The paint was a different colour underneath the mask, not pretty. Have you thought about a clear bra or the hood deflector? If you like the nose mask then leave it, but if you take it off in a year or so you might not be happy with what is underneath

I thought about the clear bra (or 3M-ing) but its so expensive! I need to cover the entire bumper and part of the hood as the big trucks up here kick up rocks that chip NOT just the hood, but the bumper as well so a deflector wouldn't be much good (hence the nose mask).

I like the way the nose mask looks, so I probably wouldn't be taking it off, but I do understand that later - if I want to sell the car - it might work against a resale value if the hood is a little messed up.

Sigh. Its on now, so I guess i have to make a decision pretty soon....

My decision is to just take it off. $140 wasted. but I dont want rock chips in my paint and I know over time I'm going to hate taking i off so much.

Ofcourse Nissan never mentioned this to me once.

I guess I'm just being anal about my car - most cars here in Alberta have nothing on the front.

Just save up money and then you'll have enough to get a clear bra.
