Car: 2008 Nissan Versa S Magnetic Grey

Post

Hi everyone!

Guess I'll start from the beginning. I've been driving a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee for over 2 years. While it was a good car (a hand-me-down from my Mom), it seemed to come up with a problem each month. It was bought for $8000.00 and I'd estimate that somewhere around $6000.00 went into repairs. Most recently, the transmission blew for the *second* time.

This was just before flying to Canada for Christmas with my wife, so we thought about it while we were out there. As soon as we got back we went to a Honda dealership.. noticed that nothing seemed to be below $20,000 and crossed the street to a Nissan dealer. That's where the Versa came in. We bought a Magnetic Grey Versa S the second day back from Canada.

I'm actually really happy with it, I think I got a decent deal.. $14,117.00 (before taxes and such) for the Power Package, ABS, Rear Roof Spoiler, Splash Guards, Kick Plates and Cruise Control. I'm paying $270. per month.

I should say that I am a bit worried about the MPG. Just finishing my 2nd tankful, I'm not even hitting 20. There are a lot of lights (usually red) on my way home, but I doubt that it should be that low.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone!

Congrats! Remember, s-l-o-w starts mean better mileage. It will get better - just easy does it and you will see your mileage climb.

[/quote]I had a commute for a while that included many lights and still got at least 30 mpg. I think your calculations are off somewhere.

Well, either that, or the mileage is just really bad for some reason. Even when driven hard from light to light, our MPG has never dropped below 25 in town. My wife's previous commute was entirely in town, stop lights every mile or less, only about 6 miles one-way, and she was averaging 28 MPG during that time. Normally she's been a pretty timid driver, but with the Versa, she enjoys spirited driving much more than with her Camry.

A few others have reported as low as 16 MPG in their Versas...somethings just not right there, either with the car, or their math.

Anyway...hope the MPG increases, and welcome to the club! Congrats on the Versa purchase, too!

And lmk if you find a way to increase mileage. I'm a careful driver -- no jackrabbit starts, easing up when red lights ahead . . . my sig tellms my sad story.

About 100km/ 1/4 tank (~62 miles). Looking for much better.
