Hi, I recently got a 2009 Versa SL sedan and am very happy with it except with the mileage. I have 650 miles and I am getting an average of 30 mpg with mostly highway driving and driving at 60 miles/hour without much throtling. Does the versa 2008 have better mileage than 2009 or is it because I am still in the breakin period? Thanks, Mansa

When I got my 08 SL CVT Versa last November, I was getting ~28 MPG until March, then it started to rise in the 30's for me. I have 22,000 on the car and I am averaging 31.9 MPG (50 highway/50 city), I have found with all new cars that the mileage gets better after the first oil change (5,000 miles). Of course, conservative driving helps tremendously with the CVT.

What mpg were you expecting to get?

The big sticker in the window says 27 city, 33 hyw, and 29 combined.

You state that mostly highway (therefore some city) is yeilding 30. That places you 1 above the combined score of 29. Sounds to me like it is spot on.

I was hoping to get at least 32-34 mpg as that is what I have heard people get. I drive 90 % highway and about 10 % city so it should atleast be higher than 30. please someone corrct me if I am wrong. guess I have to wait till 1500 miles to see if I see an increase in mileage. Any comments would be appreciated.

Maybe I'm one of those you're referring to, but I'm also in an area where I don't have to use the A/C very much. When I do, I find the mileage drops by 2-3 mpg, so that may be affecting you, too.

you'd be surprised at how much gas is wasted sitting @ stop lights. I've seen my numbers on my scan gauge drop .2-.5 mpgs, which really surprised me. thats why hybrids get killer gas milage n town & not so good on the hwy.
