Hello All,

I am (not very patiently) awaiting arrival of my new Versa. It's enroute from the factory as of Dec 04, should be here in 2-3 weeks from then. Anyways, I want to know a few things and would appreciate the info

-Is the gas cover locked (is there a rls in the car?)-Is there a trunk rls in the car? I don't remember one but it's been a while-What's all this talk about floormats, are they not included? I'm in Canada, maybe it's a US thing?-Does anyone know any safety fact's about it? I know that it has to be out for a year before they have any data and I have tried to find some on the Tiida (the Middle Eastern equal) but can't seem to find anything.

Thanks all!

Yes, it has a gas cover release. I have an S which has no hatch release, not sure about SL. Floormats are optional. You can order with car or through dealer. The car did Very well in crash tests.

1. The gas cap itself is NOT locked, but there is an inside release for the door over the gas cap.2. I have a Versa SL. There is no Trunk/Hatch release on the inside of either the S or SL.3. At least in the U.S., the Floor Mats are an option. At the moment, Nissan only offers CARPETED Floor Mats for the Versa, but there is talk about Nissan offering Rubber mats shortly. In the meantime, for rubber mats its left up to 3rd party brands.4. In the NHTSA Crash tests the Versa received 4 Stars ratings on both the Driver + Passenger Frontal Crash Test, and 5 Stars on both the Front + Rear Side Crash Test. Rollover was at 14% I believe.

My SL (purchased in Florida) included carpeted floor mats and a trunk mat as listed on my window sticker.

I totally enjoy my Versa. I am still getting use to parking it. It doesn't take the room you think it needs when initially pulling into a spot. Kinda cool.

Many of us are experiencing issues with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) going goofy, but Nissan will get ahead of that sooner or later.

We had a forum member get crashed, and another roll their car. Both are talking about their experiences on various threads. BTW, both are fine through the ordeal.

My fuel mileage isn't quite as good as I expected, but maybe that is something that will improve as the miles rack up. I am very consistantly averaging 28.9 mpg with my vehicle with my style of driving habbits and associated conditions. I was really hoping for more like 35 mpg to be my average.

I haven't tested any big-box hauling yet, but feel that my Versa and I will get things done within reasonable limits.

Everybody likes my Versa; but most of my friends would have never guessed me to go to a sub-compact-sized vehicle. They all see me more of a big pickup kind of guy.

Best of luck with your new Versa. Hopefully it will arrive shortly and your long wait will become a distant memory.

On an SL with convenience package, having an inside trunk/hatch release is kinda pointless, because the trunk release button on the trunk is a soft-touch that opens the trunk very easily with one finger.

Well, my friend who bought a Magnetic Gray Versa S from the same dealer I did my SL, did NOT purchase floor mats from the Dealer. He opted to go to Wal-Mart and get a $25 set. The wife was given her choice by the same dealer whether or not she wanted to buy the Nissan floor mats with her red SL - and she did elected to do so (otherwise the dealer was going to subtract the $150 off of the window sticker price).

The problematic TPMS is a U.S. thing - Canadian Versa's don't have it.

There is an in car release for the fuel filler flap. The cap itself does not lock.

There is no in car release for the hatch. Something I miss. You have to press the key fob twice to unlock all doors then lift hatch from the touchplate.

I'm in Canada the dealer included carpet mats no extra charge on my SL along with locking wheelnut thing...
