Okay, I had my first test this morning. 12" of wet stuff(35 degrees) and the first significant snow of the year.
I have 1/4 a mile of driveway and then 1 mile of forest service road to cross before I get to the highway. My driveway has a slight rise that I must get up and then a large dip and a 12-15 degree hill to get up.
The company I work for does the plowing but I leave for work before it is done. I was the first one out this morning.
I have 4 studded snow tires. We have not had a good freeze yet so the gravel road have not hardened into a good base yet.
I had to make two runs at the first hill. I don't have much of a run and in this wet snow it is always a bit of a struggle to get to the top of the first rise. After that I headed down and up the "Hill of hell" I thought I might not make it but I kept my foot on the gas and eased over the top.
Made it down the forest service road and here to work.My husband phoned and told me that the guy next door slid of the driveway in his 4 wheel drive.
The Versa did well. If the snow had been any wetter, I would not have made it but then my previous vehicle might not of either. I will be getting a set of chains just in case.
I have a 6 speed.
