I find the hatchback on my new Versa harder to close properly than any trunk I have ever used before. (this is my first hatchback)

I'm certainly not able to simply push it shut once it's in the down position, so that the latch catches.

I need to lift the gate at least six inches away and kinda bang it down to make it catch (as you might do with a hood of a car).

Is this normal? Are you able to place your gate in the home position and then click it shut with your hand pressure, rather than lifting and closing it hard?

In between your two extremes. It shuts like a normal hatch. No power assist latch close.

My hatch was the same way, until around 10,000 miles. It'll wear in, this was a common "complaint."
